…You May Have Noticed.

You may have noticed a slight change in Lillie-Put’s content in the New Year.

Posts with a few more words…fewer of what I call one minute wonders…. fewer posts over all. It is intentional and those of you who know me know I am becoming all about intention.

My goal this year is two-fold: Community and Stewardship. I intend to build community… and I intend to steward all my artistry towards kingdom provision.

To do both of these things: I need to deepen the conversational nature of the blog; I need to focus on artistry and I need to be reading more of your blogs.

In order to accomplish this I will be approaching the blog more as an open journal, a chat room and a photography/ sketch book. I will still be joining challenges, just fewer than I use to. I will also be increasing the time I spend reading your material and chatting with you about it. Above all and the goal will always be creating community and creating kingdom provision. That might be part of a new tag line…Creating community and Kingdom provision…Yeah I like that!

You’re Part Of the Conspiracy Pt. 1

I was given the privilege of sharing the morning message this last Sunday at Cornerstone Church. What follows is a transcript of part of that sermon and some photos of the service taken by our own Steven Hackett.

You’re Part Of the Conspiracy

Our lead pastor, Pastor Risto began a new series when last he preached and will be continuing that series through until Easter. The series is entitled “The Conspiracy Of Love”.

You know there are lots of conspiracy theories out there. Theories that say this group or that group is secretly trying to take over the world. Theories that purport that moments in history like the assassination of JFK or the Fall of the Berlin Wall were all part of some hidden master plan for some shadow government to rule the world.

By and large we make fun of those conspiracy theories and of those who hold to them. But I am here to tell you there really is a grand conspiracy. There really is a secret plan to take over the world and God is at the heart of that plan. Jesus is at the heart of that plan. Heaven really is trying to take over the world. Fully 6,000,000,000 people on the face of the planet know nothing about this plan or think it’s just an urban legend but I have news for them. The plan is real and further God has a plan to make you, yes you, a part of the conspiracy.

Listen to these Scriptures that speak about God’s master plan. His conspiracy of love.

“But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him

and cause him grief.

Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,

he will have many descendants.

He will enjoy a long life,

and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.

11When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,

he will be satisfied.

And because of his experience,

my righteous servant will make it possible

for many to be counted righteous,

for he will bear all their sins.” Isaiah 53:10,11

Paul the Apostle wrote this next bit:

“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen,     what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—     the things God has prepared for those who love him—

10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 1:6-10

He also penned this verse:

“Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. 4In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus….9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 3:2-10

You see Scripture reveals that:

  1. God has always had a master plan.
  2. That plan was to save mankind and restore His relationship with man and His Kingdom in the world.
  3. He kept that plan hidden for ages and has been working behind the scenes with His agents to bring that plan to pass ( a conspiracy)
  4. That plan from the beginning was for Jesus to die for our sins
  5. That plan was to create the church and through it to tear down the Kingdom of Satan.
  6. That plan involves you and me if we accept the mission.

We will discuss this more tomorrow. I’d love to hear your thoughts

In Other Words: Knowing My Place

In Other Words

I am writing another bit here at “In Other Words” from this week’s awesome quote from Patricia

“There are no passengers on Spaceship Earth.
We are all crew.”

by JE Lillie

When I awoke here I couldn’t move. My arms and legs were like lead weights in the ship’s heavy gravity. After months floating in the juice I had all I could do to breathe and eat never mind move.

Everything about the ship was different and scary. Gravity, light, breathing air instead of liquid and the complex language of the crew. I spent months orienting myself to the point where I could walk, feed myself again and understand what was going on.

The Captain assigned me two guides to help me train for my position on the crew. I count that fortunate. Some of my fellow newbies only got one guide assignment. Theirs was the greater learning curve. Even so guides are just that, guides. Though they start telling you everything like: when to eat, when to sleep, when to get up, by the time it comes to the really big questions like how to live out your purpose on the ship and what your position is on the ship, they can only really make suggestions.

One of my guides manages one of the ship’s many commissaries. He started training me for the work. At first I thought it would be easy. What I found out is that feeding the ship’s hungry is no small task and managing and organizing supplies is a bigger job than I am skilled for.

My other guide is a healer. She is a no nonsense woman who could push dead people back to health given the time and proper equipment. I can’t put bandages on right.

While I am not skilled in either of their professions what I have learned from them in my time aboard ship is that guidance is not so much about similarity with another person as it is about sympathy for another person. In that I have found my purpose. Soon I am to be commissioned as a ship’s counsellor.

The Change I’d Like To Make

The Daily post has asked us today…What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

Almost a decade ago I wrote my life mission statement. That was to create around myself a culture of worship. The method I felt led to use was the arts. To that end I have tried several things, my blogs Reinventing the We’ll and Lillie-Put being two of those chosen methods.

I would like to see the readers of Lillie-Put encouraged ina positive direction and challenged toward knowing and worshipping God as a result of what I write. Many of my blogs are not directly related to the ideas of worship but are artistic in form and relational in nature. Blogging is a connective art form and I hope in some small way through those connections to draw people into the joyful and loving presence of a living God.

Be blessed!
