Share Your World 11-12-19

It is time once again to Share My World with Melanie! This is the weekly challenge where Melanie asks some questions and in answering them we share our worldsSYWRainbows

Here are this week’s sharing questions and my answers. When you have finished take a  trip to Melanie’s blog by clicking HERE TO SEE HOW HER OTHER CONTRIBUTORS ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS

  1. Is copying and pasting images or information off the Internet plagiarism?   Do you credit those whose work you ‘borrow freely’ or do you think the idea is repugnant?   (Credit for this question goes to GC and Sue)                                                                                I generally try to give credit where credit is due or I try to use stock images if I am using pictures.
  2.  Do you let sleeping dogs lie?                                                                                                             Unless they are my dogs I try to give sleeping dogs a wide berth.
  3.  What’s the strangest pet name (for adults) that you’ve ever heard someone called?           Stinky.
  4.  Do you like to dance?   If yes, what’s your favorite and if no, why not?

I do not dance mostly because I look like I am having a seizure when I do.

Gratitude Question:

November brings Thanksgiving to Americans.  I know Canada celebrates Thanksgiving too, but I believe it’s in October.   Does your country celebrate a similar holiday?   If you’d like, share some traditions you observe around Thanksgiving or if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, what are some traditions you have?

I love the old fashioned American Turkey. My sister lives in the Netherlands (when she is not home on intineration) and turkey over there has to be imported so it is super expensive. Still her colleagues get together and celebrate American Thanksgiving even though Sinter Klaus comes right on the heals of that on Dec. 5th.

Share Your World From 10-14-19

Yay! I get to participate in SHARE YOUR WORLD HIS WEEK!

This challenge has been one of my favorites for several years. I hate to miss it but there have been seasons (this has been one) where finding any time to blog has proven problematic. I have learned over 8-ish years of being part of the blogosphere that is kind of the nature of the beast, but seasons change and this one is changing now. So YAY!

HERE ARE THIS WEEK’S SHARING QUESTIONS FROM MELANIE AND MY ANSWERS. WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED HERE PLEASE USE THE UNDERLINED LINK TO GO AND VISIT SPARKS FROM A COMBUSTIBLE MIND AND CHECK OUT SOME OF MELANIE’S OTHER CONTRIBUTORS.

Why do we have such trouble telling our loved ones that we love them?  Do you have that kind of communication issue with your loved ones?

Above question inspired by this short, poignant blog post

https://mitchteemley.com/2019/10/10/love-before-its-too-late-2/

This was a problem for me for a lot of years. I think for me it was the result of my gender and my culture acting on me to tell me how my gender was supposed to be in the world. That said, my church has helped me to overcome many of my relational deficiencies.

Decorations for holidays?   Spirit lifters or pain in the butt?   Or a mix?

A definite butt lift. 🙂

Do you donate to charities?  Of your time, do you feel money is the only true gift, or other?  (nod to Rory for this idea)

I have been taught that giving to charities is not just a good thing to do but a necessity to do. I believe that when you choose a charity you should give it your time, talent and treasure. This calls for us to discern which charities we belong being a part of and which ones we do not.

Are you too superstitious or  have you ever played with a Ouija Board?

I am not superstitious I am spiritual and I believe in the spirit world as a very real part of the physical world. I have done way more than played with a ouija board. From those experiences I have learned that the spirit world is nothing to be toyed with. It can be a very dangerous place and God has warned us off many practices that our culture has made a game out of.

This week please share a photo or image of what ‘harvest’ and “Autumn” mean to you!   Thanks!

Once again I am a few days late to the game of Sharing My World, but better late than never!

Below are this week’s sharing questions and my answers. When you have finished reading my shares why don’t you jump over to Melanie’s place and read some of her contributors’ works?

QUESTIONS:

irony-alert-ironic

What’s the most ironic thing you’ve ever witnessed?

People saying they believe in God and then acting like He doesn’t exist.

Let’s talk turkey.  Pro or con?   If pro, which part do you enjoy most?  Is it for Thanksgiving (American Style any way) only?

I am a big pro turkey man, but truth be told the only time I have it is at American Thanksgiving (Christmas is lasagna).  Also I am not so big a fan of the stuff that I will pay all outdoors for it. Here in America turkey is generally an affordable meat. My sister lives in The Netherlands and there are no turkeys there so the only way to get one is to import it. Last year her friend( who is also American) imported one at the cost of $200.00 American! Turkey is just not that important that I will give up a month’s car payment for it.

When I make the turkey I prefer white meat.

If you’d like, share one thing you wish you’d said to someone else, but now you’ll never have the chance.

Make sure your heart is right with God before you go.

smell-like-sunshine-1

What odd smell do you really enjoy?

I love the smell of face powder. It reminds me of my grandmother.

Thankful November….share a story or time when someone did something really great for you.  Alternatively,  share your gratitude moments during this past week.

I am so thankful to be supported by a great group of music ministers here at our church who work so hard to make a joyful noise before the Lord each week.

It is time to Share Our Worlds With Melanie!

Each week Melanie asks four questions and we her contributors answer them and so we share our worlds!

Here are her questions this week:

Do you prefer Apple (‘I’ products) or Android for your technology ‘fix’?

I have only ever used Android products. Before my current smart phone I owned a flip phone.

What’s something on your personal bucket list?

To live forever. I know it kinda ruins the bucket list idea doesn’t it, but hey that is the promise we Christians live for.

What would you name your boat if you had one?   The Unsinkable 3? The Please Don’t Sink? Your choice! Also, what would it look like? Do you want a motor yacht, a sailboat, or perhaps a dinghy?

The Dawn Treader. It would look like this.

Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life?

You know I guess the word “boring” just doesn’t sync with me. Can I change it to annoying? The most annoying character is  Bella Swan from the Twilight series. That girl just couldn’t get out of her own way.

And finally:

What brought gratitude, a smile or laughter to your life this week?

I am reading a new book by Andy Stanley called Irresistible. It is a powerful read.

It is time to participate in one of my favorite challenges here on the blogosphere...SHARE YOUR WORLD.

Every week the host of Share Your World offers up a few questions and in answering them we share little bits of our world with each other.

Here are the questions and my answers.

Which tastes better: black or green olives?

I like green olives myself, but I am the only one in the family who likes olives period, so I don;t have them often.

What’s your favorite room in your home?

I like my prayer room. Everyone else calls it the work room.

What fictional family would you be a member of?

Oh dear! This is a hard one?

My Big Fat Greek Wedding Maybe?

My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie poster.jpg

Nope the family is too big and too much in each other’s business.

Vicar of Dibley Maybe?

The Vicar of Dibley intro.jpg

Not as crass or crazy. So that’s not it.

I am a few days late this week but still determined to Share My World. My! My! My! It was a busy one!

You can check out the site of World Sharing Hostess, Cee Neuner by clicking HERE.

Here are the sharing questions for this week and my answers:

A piece of clothing from your younger childhood you still remember?

I had this brown silk shirt with wagon wheels all over it. I thought it was awesome when I was eight. It was the height of 70’s fashion. I think my mother burned all the pictures of me wearing it.

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could be an athlete what would do do?   Remember this is SYW, dreaming is always allowed.

I would be a parkour master

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

I think I would rather drive at this point in my life and that is a definite change.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Here is a quote from one of the books I am reading. That inspired me this week.

“If…we dare to respond as Father God call us out to become His men, if we allow Him to nail our pride and our plans to the cross, we’re eligible at last to receive His Spirit and do our appointed task in restoring His kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.- From Healing the Masculine Soul

Share Your World April 16, 2018

It is time to Share My World again. It just seems like the weeks are flying by this year even faster than usual. I am half convinced time is collapsing!

Anyway, my answers to the weekly questions are below. Please check out Cee’s blog by clicking the link above . Do it now before time collapses any further!

List things or events that changed your life?

Wow! That is a huge list. It feels like my life has been one change after another as I look back to get me where I am. To pick out one life- changing event is like playing a game of Jenga. Each change has its place in making me who I am remove just one and the whole tower comes down.

But here are four life events that seem to have dramatically changed the direction of my life.

  1. Becoming a Christian
  2. Getting married
  3. Having Children
  4. Getting divorced

Complete this sentence: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s…Superman of course!

What genre of music do you like? Here is a mix that will probably give you a good idea

I am actually pretty close to on time this week with my SHARE YOU WORLD POST, which has to be some sort of anomaly that just may run the risk of ripping the fabric of the space/time continuum. So for those adversely affected by any such event allow me to apologize in advance.

Here are Cee’s Sharing questions and my answers. For those new to this challenge you can click on the underlined link above and find out all about Share Your World!

How do you like your eggs?

I love my eggs over medium with cheese on top. With a side of homefries mixed with onions, corned beef hash and a nice strong cup of coffee!

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I guess that depends on what you mean by famous and then again it depends on what you mean by the word “met”.

Since my circle is the church world I have met many “famous ministers and missionaries”. That is to say I have been in the same room with people like: Billy Graham ( I went to one of his evangelism trainings); John Maxwell (he autographed a book); Sarah Blackstone (whose parents were the first Western missionaries into Japan after Hiroshima and Nagasaki and who has given her whole life to the Japanese people);  Even my sister is becoming pretty well known in her little corner of the world.

She also works with these guys.

I had dinner and promoted a concert for these guys…

Then our church has hosted Sam Farina who is actually pretty famous as a life coach throughout the world.

I have my hair cut by Jodi at Barbers Beyond Dawn.

Did you have a stuffed animal when you were a kid, if so what kind?

I did. I had a big stuffed teddy bear and a giant lion.

share-your-world2

It has been tough making time to get to the computer to write a blog this week, but in these last few minutes before I head home for the afternoon chores and then off into my night’s activities I thought I would tell you all a little about my life through Cee’s SHARE YOUR WORLD QUESTIONS.

When you finish reading my response to Cee’s weekly challenge click the link above and see how Cee’s other contributor’s have shared.

What would be your ideal fantasy way to spend Monday?

Right about this time of year I am usually dreaming of getting out of the snow and being somewhere really warm. My fantasy Monday would be to relax on a beach in a tropical climate.

What one person that you are out of contact with would you like to say thank you to?

Thank you Aunt Joan for encouraging me to keep up with the piano!

List your favorite toys or games as a kid?

toys…games… hmm….Do you remember the plastic dinosaur kits? I used to love mine. I also loved my GE Show-N-Tell Player. Does anyone remember those?

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
