It’s Ash Wednesday the traditional start of the fasting season called Lent. As I begin this 40 day journey I am given a starting word:
“Grace” I am reminded that I am called to understand at least three things about grace.
1. Grace cannot be earned. It can only be realized and received with thankfullness. Anyone who desires it can have it.
2. Grace is God doing for me what I cannot do for myself. That does not mean there’s is nothing for me to do. I must do what I can.
3.Grace doesn’t kick in until I stop struggling to do things I cannot do. Struggling in areas beyond my control is called pride.
I want God’s grace. So today I am taking this word to my prayer list and seeking to realize where and how I need to realize and receive the working of His grace.
Today’s question: what is one area in which you recognize the grace of God at work in your life?

Continuing to release me from my past.
PS–are we supposed to answer the questions here, or just keep them quietly to ourselves? I seem to always assume I’m in class, and that I’m expected to respond…
Responses are welcome Sis. I like the dialogue! 🙂
I too am recognizing the grace of God releasing me from my past. THe release for me is slow and painful but oh so worth the journey!
Yeah, I don’t think there’s anything “quick” about this deal we’re in, Pastor J–must be part of patience-training…
Indeed because our character (including patience) is more important than our comfort! :p
God’s grace has helped me to forgive what others might say is unforgiveable. May others realize that without Him in my heart this would be extremely difficult to do. Thanks, Pastor J for all that you do for Him!
THank you Deb for the constant encouragement. It is amazing the power God has to help us forgive. I stand amazed at the infinite mercy of God!
I loved the 3 things about grace, Pastor J! Thank you for taking us along on this journey! God bless you!
You are welcome Deb. I hope the pathway finds you blessed.
“Grace” is my constant reminder to forgive others as Jesus has forgiven me. I am always telling my daughter, “WWJD?”” in this situation,” and she says, “I know Mom, What Would Jesus Do?” I also have to admit it’s usually easier for us to remind others of this than ourselves. Thankfully my daughter who is 8 years old can also remind Mommy with “WWJD?”. Sometimes we hang our head low because we don’t always want to forgive so easily but thankfully “Grace” reminds us Jesus did it for us unconditionally and WITHOUT hesitation. Thank you, Lord for the Grace trump card, it allows me to let it go and free myself of any anguish I may otherwise cause myself. Thanks Pastor J.
Grace is the expression of His love and it is the conceptual power behind Christianity. I am so thankful that His grace is made manifest in my life.
>> What is one area in which I recognise the grace of God?
It would be easier to answer if it was phrased ‘what is one area where you do NOT see God’s grace at work’ – because His grace is constant. The only time I DON’T see His grace working is when I go my own way – but it is still working, because He gently (and sometimes not so gently) reminds me and draws me back to Himself.
What amazing grace!
What an incredibly amazing God!
So true Angela. His grace is always at work, but so many times we need to be reminded to look for that working.
