A Question A Day From Rory Pt. 4

Here is part 4 in my question a day series. I GOT THESE GREAT QUESTION FROM RORY OVER AT A GUY CALLED A BLOKE. CLICK HERE TO VISIT HIS BLOG.

Here is today’s question and my answer:

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

I pray differently more than most people.

For me prayer is a lifestyle that consumes vast amounts of time in my life. This lifestyle has developed over years. When I began I thought I was just developing a little devotional life. It has become this thing that informs everything I am and do. I used to ask the question, “How can I fit prayer into the rest of my life?”

Over the course of the last twenty years that question has changed to become, “How do I fit the rest of my life in around prayer.”

The other difference is that for me most of prayer has become about listening for the voice of God in the world rather than trying to get Him to hear my voice. I don’t spend so much time asking for things anymore. I spend more time waiting in His presence than anything.

Isaiah 40 :31 “They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as Eagles…”

Thoughts On Prayer 12-29-17

There is prayer that avails much and there is prayer that avails little. Most of our prayer avails little because we spend our time in prayer focusing on problems and concerns. We need to first come to the throne of grace and look at the all sufficiency of the One who sits upon it. This is prayer that avails much!

When once we have been swallowed whole by the greatness of His majesty, we have only a little way to go to have our prayers answered. Then and only then should we employ prayer that avails little…intercession…petition. These should be the least part of our prayers. All else should be basking, being swallowed whole in the Presence of God.

Just sit with Him Christian. Sit with Him in silence and wait for the slightest flutter of His robe. When you see Him move then you move, you pray in the same direction.

Staycation 2016 Pt. 1

So this year my plan was to visit my son in South Korea for my summer vacation. Unfortunately I ended up owing on April 15th rather than getting back…Sad :(.

So my South Korean vacation turned into a New England staycation. God is always in control. As it turns out sticking around was all part of His plan.

I decided to take a portion of my time and spend it in concerted prayer about my schedule for this next year. I have been sensing for a while that things are about to change.

A few weeks before my vacation I approached  Father Mike over at Immaculate Heart and asked him if I could use his sanctuary during my vacation as a sacred space to center down and pray. He readily agreed. Thank you Father Mike!

Then I approached my teams with a list of all the things I am involved in and asked them to rate those things on a 1-10 scale as to their importance in my life. I took all this information with me into prayer. The results I imagine will be forthcoming.

Tehillah Tuesday 7-12-16

I know this is not technically a praise song and that this post is usually dedicated strictly to praise but this is something God’s people must do if there is to be hope at all

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humblethemselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. II Chronicles 7:13-15

Will you be part of the prayer movement?
