Share Your World 2-24-20

It is time to answer my friend Melanie’s weekly questions once again and in taking up that challenge I declare I AM SHARING MY WORLD. Click the underlined link to see how everyone else shared their world.

Here are Melanie’s questions and my answers:

SYWAI

What do you think of best friends of the opposite sex?  Or to put it another way “Can men and women ever be platonic friends?  Doesn’t sex always get in the way?”

I think it is possible. That said it is very rare. There are so many things that can get in the way.

What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome?

I would say struggling. In fact I can’t say I have yet overcome the problem of struggling with my struggles instead of giving them to God.

What is the darkest thought you’ve ever had? What about the darkest thing you’ve done that you’ve never told anybody about? (obviously you’ll be telling now if you choose to.  Telling might unburden you a little though.)

The darkest thought I ever had was the thought of leaving God and becoming and unbeliever.

and one ‘fun’ one because I realize those others were pretty deep)

What is your least favorite food?

Okra. Blecch.

Share a thought, write a story or poem or share a meme about gratitude.  If you’d like to.  As with the other questions, this is optional.

I just got back from the Philippines 2 weeks ago. That was new. I experienced my first Philippine wedding that was new and absolutely stunning! I ate Philippine cuisine and that was new as well as yummy!

I put my feet in the Pacific Ocean and that was also new!

If you were forced to eliminate every physical possession from your life with the exception of what could fit into a single backpack, what would you put in it?

What simple fact do you wish more people understood?

Jesus is Lord.

What food item do you go through fastest in your house?  (credit to Sandmanjazz)

Is there any painting that represents you/your dreams?

Oh what a good question to ask the guy who runs an artist’s collaborative! I think the painting that most represents my life right now is “The Voyage Of Life” painted by Thomas Cole in 1842

If you could meet someone from the past, who would it be?

I wish I could meet so many people and truth be told I probably will meet them sometime in eternity but I think I would really like most to meet and have a conversation with my great great great grandfather Lorenzo Tandy who was a minister in Massachusetts during the holiness movement.

What is your biggest fear in life?

Not being enough.

How would you name your “biography book”?

The Frenetic Couch Potato

Which is your favorite recipe? (would love if you share it so we can all try it)

Kielbasa Casserole:

Cut up and fry Kielbasa and onions together

Cook egg noodles until tender

Mix together in a pot with a container of sour cream.

Eat!

I’m a pretty simple guy.

What´s the best compliment you have ever received?

One I have not received yet but one day will by faith…”Well done thou good and faithful servant! Enter now into the joy of the Lord!”

Which book you think everyone in the world should read?

The Bible. But I think we should do more than just read it. The Bible should be read studied and memorized.

Would you prefer a planned or a spontaneous trip?

Planned

Which word would you use to describe yourself?

Dedicated

What´s the rarest way in which you met a friend?

I met my best friend in sixth grade math class. He is the friend who has tracked with me through the entirety of my life. He was Snoopy in the eighth grade musical. I was Charlie Brown. We were in band together all through high school. He was  the best man at my wedding and I was the best man at his wedding. He was the one I dumped on when I went through my divorce and I would like to think I have been there to hear his worst moments. We have had moments when we didn’t get along very well and we have had moments where we supported each other no matter what. He has led worship beside me for the last thirty years. He is the rarest of friends. Thanks Jody!

Share Your World Week #34 2016

Well I am back and doing back to back Share Your world blogs because I am that far behind the curve.

Week 33 was so much fun I decided to do week 34 right away.

Here are Cee’s questions for this week and my answers:

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

I love macaroni & Cheese…no pizza…no Hostess Suzie Q’s…no Apple Fritters…no grilled cheese sandwiches…no COFFEE!!! Yes COFFEE!

Is the paper money in your possession right now organized sequentially according to denomination and with the bills right side up and facing the same way?

Absolutely not! That would be a miscarriage of wallet justice. The bills I have left over from lunch yesterday are stuffed hodge-podge in with all the receipts from last week. That way when I drive and sit on my wallet my leg can fall to sleep properly.

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?

Reading. Watching TV and forgetting to put the butter away so that I could leave my little mouse teeth tracks in it at midnight (We have lost more sticks of butter this way).

Would you rather not be able to read or not be able to speak?

Speaking is overrated (said the preacher). I want to be able to retain my ability to read.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to lead worship at Special Touch REACH New England’s chapter meeting this weekend and also to lead worship at Cornerstone Church.

This week our church begins its fall growth groups. I am excited to see this discipleship season begin.

Here are the questions and my answers.

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

I love a good hot soak every once in a while but mostly I am just a quick shower type of guy. I hardly have time to run a bath never mind soak in it!

If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?

I would choose an unlimited shopping spree at Amazon.com. That way I do not have to leave home and I can stop to make a sandwich when I get tired of spending money. 🙂

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would that be?

I would choose to be seventeen as long as I could overcome the teenage angst and sense of powerlessness I felt. Having the body of a seventeen year old without any of the personality draw backs that come from lack of wisdom and experience would be just awesome!

List at least five movies that cheer you up.

I love triumph stories. Here are a few I have recently seen that sent me away saying, “THAT WAS AWESOME!”

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I had a great vacation (details to come in future posts) and this week I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things at work.

Share Your World 2016 Week 28

share-your-world2

As some of you know Cee took the week of from Share Your World last week; So week 27 is as nonexistent at the 13th floor in some hotels. But here we are at week 28 answering her 5 sharing questions once again.

YOU CAN SEE EVERYONE’S ANSWER TO THE QUESTIONS HERE.

Here are Cee’s five weekly sharing questions and my answers.

What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory is a recurring nightmare I had when I was a little boy. We lived in a great big Victorian set into a hillside. The house was grey and black and to this day gives me the heebie-jeebies when I drive past it.

My parents rented one side and another family rented the other side. Anyway I remember dreaming many nights in my crib that two giant fat ghosts would pop through the wall beside my crib (yes I was that young) and sit on me. The ghosts were men with big noses always wearing Hawaiian shirts. Crazy I know but I remember the dreams vividly.

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

Have you ever danced in the rain?

No I am not a big fan of getting my feet wet.

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?

36 hours. Brutal!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful that our team at Cornerstone had a wonderful teamwork training led by our leadership coach, Paul Hackett. What a brilliant guy! I am looking forward to the second part of the training next Monday and then I am on vacation!

Share Your World 2016 Week 23

Holy Cow! I posted Share Your World week 21 last night thinking that was the latest, and here I am reading posts from week 23. Am I out of the loop or what?!? Well it’s time to come out of the past and step into the present. So here for your reading pleasure is my time of sharing my answers to Cee’s week 23 questions. Maybe sometime in the future I will go back and answer questions from week 22 just for fun!

What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

My father owned a diner in our hometown; So one of my first jobs was dish washing, but dad was big on personal responsibility and earning your own way and so I actually started delivering papers when I was nine. I had 126 daily papers. I think that job in some ways was harder than dish washing. I have to say I loved paper delivery so much I went back to it as an adult and ran two circulation offices before becoming a Pastor.

What is your favorite month of the year?

November.

What three things in nature do you find most beautiful?

I love the ocean, waterfalls and gardens.

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper)

I am a big fan of basil. I love oregano and garlic. I also love cumin and corriander.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Since I already used the vacation thing on week 21 I guess I will have to get a little more specific. I am so glad I got to read two books in the fantasy series I am currently working my way through.

This week I am looking forward to meeting with my friends from the Winchendon Enhancement Comittee and beginning to plan the Fall Fest and the programming that will go on the soon to be acquired Ingleside property which has been two years in the works.

Share Your World 2016 Week #21

share-your-world2

Well it has been a few weeks since I have had the time to swing by Cee’s place and take part in a share your world challenge. Last week I was on vacation. I wasn’t able to get to a computer to post but I did keep up with some of the other “Share your worlders” via my smart phone. Anyway this is the place where I share some of my world with all y’all. Have a read through and then click the link below to see other people’s shares.

What is your favorite go to beverage?  Water, coffee, tea, coke, soda (non-alcoholic)

I would have to say coffee but not right now because I am temporarily off the java. So right now my go to beverage is lemon ginger tea.

Can you change a car tire?

Yes I can but I would rather call Triple A

Are you a listener or talker?

I like to listen to people but sometimes I just can’t keep the trap shut. Usually that is not a good thing.

Would you rather have no internet or no cell phone?

Can you even have a cell phone anymore without internet? I think I use the internet on my phone more than my actual cell phone.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful I got to take a five day break and that I got to see my daughter on her birthday. This week I am looking forward to our monthly concert at the Lifeskills program.
