SHARE YOUR WORLD WITH HARRY POTTER FROM 9-14-20

IT is time to Share My World Harry Potter style with….

MELANIE FROM SPARKS FROM A COMBUSTIBLE MIND

AND….

ROGER SHIPP FROM IT’S ALL IN FINDING THE RIGHT WORDS.

This is the challenge where Roger and Melanie asks several questions for Potterites and Muggles alike, and in answering them we all share our worlds.

Here are the questions and my answers.

You have just been gifted a magic wand that specializes in completing household chores. You can request the completion of only two household chores. Which chores would you assign your wand to complete?

I need a wand for the dusting and the vacuuming. These are chores I never seem to get too. Though, if the truth be told I am not good at keeping up with housework period.

At the local Wizards-R-Us store there was a sale on handshake shockers, instant darkness pellets, and levitation pills. Which of these ‘party thrillers’ are you more likely to purchase?

Instant darkness pellets sound way more fun than the others. Now, if they were instant flying pills I might reconsider.

In the alley behind Wizards-R-Us, there was a tradesman selling a Love Potion. The sales pitch was too much for you and you yielded and purchased one vial. What do you do with it?

I store it away for someone who needs it…somewhere where I will be absolutely safe from it.

You are the Great Clearinghouse Winner of a new ‘good luck’ potion – Felix Felicis. It has to be used within the next thirty days or its potency becomes diminished. Do you use it? Do you give it to a friend in need?

I am pretty sure good luck is not a thing. The pathway is the pathway, and it is what we need it to be. Trying to change the pathway with luck is not only useless but if we manage it, it can be dangerous. So I would dump it out. No one needs it.

Melanie’s Mundane Muggle Questions:

If everyone spoke their mind, would this world be a better or worse place? Why?

We are not called to speak our minds. We are called to speak the truth in love. Those things are usually very different. My mind often wants to say things that are neither loving or things that are only as truthful as the spin of my opinion. Mostly I don’t trust myself to speak my mind. Why would I trust it in others?
Can achieving nothing make a person happy?

Sometimes I think achievement is overrated. Especially in this culture where achievements are made out of cookie cutters. Everyone thinks a person’s achievements should look exactly like their next door neighbors achievements. That is pretty far from the truth. I think the first question is what were we made to achieve? Shooting for that personal goal is a good thing as long as it is not being done to out achieve someone else.
How do you know if you love someone enough to marry them?

Good golly! Do you have a hundred years to listen to my rant on this? I guess if you can honestly speak the covenant oath then you love them enough. Here’s the thing. What if they get sick? What if they get poor? What if they get rich and the dazzle of riches makes them unfaithful to you? What if you get sick? What if you lose everything because of them? What if you get everything you want but keeping all the stuff means second -classing your relationship so you need to give it up? If you can make the oath to stick with them through all of this and not go seeking another then maybe you love them enough.

It’s time for SHARE YOUR WORLD AGAIN! This is the weekly challenge where Melanie from “Sparks From A Combustible Mind” posts five questions and in answering them, we her contributors all share our worlds…at least a little bit.

The weekly questions and my answers are below. Please check out Melanie’s blog (by clicking the capitalized link above) when you have finished here. See how her other contributors have answered.

THE QUESTIONS:

Where Do You Not Mind Waiting?

I generally don’t mind waiting as long as I have a comfortable place to sit and something to occupy my mind. I do struggle waiting sometimes when the wait interferes with a busy schedule. That said, I try to leave plenty of space in my life now for the waiting which is becoming more and more common in our culture.

What Is In Your Fridge Right Now?  (you’re not required to give a comprehensive list)

We are two days from grocery shopping so not much. Macaroni salad…kool aid…milk…soda. And eggs we have plenty of eggs.

If You Could Only Speak One Word Today, What Would It Be?

Jesus.

Would You Rather Be Trapped In An Elevator Full Of Men With BO Or Three Soaked Dogs?  (this is with the codicil that C-19 doesn’t exist)

Am I one of the men with BO?…..The dogs definitely.

Please feel free to share something good about last week.   This is NOT mandatory, it is just if you’d like to.

The berries are coming in now. I picked a pint of currants today and I have about a quart of black rasberries. I also harvested seven purple turnips and two tomatoes.

Now here are here weekly questions and my answers:

In your opinion, what’s the closest thing to real magic?

The closest thing to real magic is….real magic of course. I am a firm believer that magic is a thing. It’s not a good thing…we are told to stay away from it…but it’s a thing. Now on the opposite side of that and even more powerful than magic is the miraculous power of God. It is also a real thing…we are encouraged to be channels of this blessing in Mark chapter 16, Luke 24 and Act 1.

Where is the worst smelling place you’ve been?

A meat locker where all the meat had gone rancid. Worst smell ever.

What are some things that you’ve heard in your own life, which sounded like compliments but were actually insults?

“Oh my your house looks like Grey Gardens!” On the surface it seemed like a lovely compliment unless of course you know what Grey Gardens was.And she was talking about the before not the after.

What incredibly common thing have you never done?

Hmm…..Hmmm……I think I have done all the common things. I am exceedingly common.

Questions:

Have you ever ‘dined and dashed” (i.e. eaten the meal and then run out the restaurant door without paying)?

My grandad and father were in business together as restaurant owners. This happened at our place too often. The restaurant business is hard enough so no I never followed suit.

Have you ever been in a car accident and either left the scene of the accident (providing it was a fender bender and not serious) or denied culpability for causing it when you did, (if it were minor or serious)?

Nope. All my accidents were too big to miss.

(Oldie which has been asked many times before)   Have you ever found a wallet or purse or some money (over $20) in the street and just taken it, thinking ‘finders keepers, losers weepers?   Or would you be ‘good’ and hand it in?

This has never happened to me, but I would turn it in if it did.

What was the last thing you stole or shoplifted?   If you never ever considered doing that, tell us your secret!   🙂

Actually this just happened last week…purely by accident. I was at Walmart in the self check line and I left one of my bags at the register. When I got to the car I realized I didn’t have all my stuff so I went back in. My sister was using the register I had just come from and so I asked her if she saw my stuff. She said “no”, and then the man overseeing the kiosks told me to check with customer service. I did and no one had turned in my bag so the guy told me to just go get new merch and let me go after checking my receipt. When we got home my sister found my stuff in her bag of towels. So I took the stuff back and paid for it again to make up for the duplicates I had unwittingly stolen in the first place.

Gratitude.

I am so grateful that the garden is growing and the flowers are blooming. I love this time of year.

Share Your World From 4-27-20

Well, It is almost the end of the Sharing week but here I am at last to SHARE MY WORLD WITH ALL OF YOU!

This is the challenge where our hostess, Melanie, asks us 5 questions and in answering them we, her contributors, share our worlds. When you have finished reading my shares, please check out Melanie’s site, by clicking the link above, to see how she and all of our other Sharing friends have answered.

Now on to the questions:

SHAREYOURWORLDSTARHANDS

Do guns protect people or kill people?  Or both?

Guns are tools, inanimate objects. They can neither protect nor kill. Now people…people…. How I long for a return to innocence where killing and protecting were not things we did or ever had to do.

Is it more important to be respected or liked?

I think it depends who you are trying to get to respect or like you. I have wasted a lot of time trying to get certain people to treat me in ways they had no capacity for. I have discovered that “like” and “respect” are beggars wishes. Even if you get them you can’t long keep them.

Is having a big ego a negative or  positive trait?  (yeah I know.  Duh. But there ought to be one “gimme’ in the pile)

Oye. We could do with a little less ego in the world right now.

Depending on your point of view, is death a new beginning?

Yes. In fact, aside from the second coming it is the real beginning.

FINALLY:

gratitudeleaf

I am so grateful to have a garden to work in.

Share Your World 3-30-2-

It is time to SHARE MY WORLD. THIS IS THE CHALLENGE WHERE MELANIE ASKS 5 OR SO QUESTIONS AND IN ANSWERING THEM WE HER CONTRIBUTORS SHARE OUR WORLDS A LITTLE BIT.

Just click that capitalized link and you will find all the sharing from around the world.

SYW Computer Globe

Here are the questions and my answers.

Pancakes, waffles or French Toast as your breakfast favorite?

PANCAKES FOR SURE! I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THEM AND BACON ALL WEEK. I THINK I WILL MAKE THEM TOMORROW.

Do you think a person’s name influences the person they become?

I THINK SOMETIMES A NAME HAS TO BE OVERCOME, BUT EVEN THAT IS A CHOICE WE CAN MAKE. WE ARE OUR OWN INFLUENCERS.

Would things get better or worse if humans focused on what was going well rather than what’s going wrong?

BETTER, NO DOUBT. ALTHOUGH WE DO HAVE TO FACE OUR CHALLENGES.

Is math(s) something that humans created or something we discovered? Is looking at reality mathematically an accurate representation of how things work?

I THINK WE DISCOVERED MATH. THAT SAID IT IS NOT THE BE ALL END ALL. THE MATH ELEMENT MUST BE COMBINED WITH THE ELEMENT OF EMOTION AND THE NON QUANTIFIABLES IN ORDER FOR A FULL PICTURE OF ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TO EMERGE.

What are you grateful for right now?   I realize it’s difficult to be very positive right now, unless one is being positive that things are pretty awful.   Let’s spread the joy in gratitude!

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORSHIP GOD EVERY DAY.

It is time to answer my friend Melanie’s weekly questions once again and in taking up that challenge I declare I AM SHARING MY WORLD. Click the underlined link to see how everyone else shared their world.

Here are Melanie’s questions and my answers:

SYWAI

What do you think of best friends of the opposite sex?  Or to put it another way “Can men and women ever be platonic friends?  Doesn’t sex always get in the way?”

I think it is possible. That said it is very rare. There are so many things that can get in the way.

What is the greatest struggle you’ve overcome?

I would say struggling. In fact I can’t say I have yet overcome the problem of struggling with my struggles instead of giving them to God.

What is the darkest thought you’ve ever had? What about the darkest thing you’ve done that you’ve never told anybody about? (obviously you’ll be telling now if you choose to.  Telling might unburden you a little though.)

The darkest thought I ever had was the thought of leaving God and becoming and unbeliever.

and one ‘fun’ one because I realize those others were pretty deep)

What is your least favorite food?

Okra. Blecch.

Share a thought, write a story or poem or share a meme about gratitude.  If you’d like to.  As with the other questions, this is optional.

I put my feet in the Pacific Ocean and that was also new!

If you were forced to eliminate every physical possession from your life with the exception of what could fit into a single backpack, what would you put in it?

A Change of clothes, A cell phone,  a bed roll and one of those scout cook plates with the cup and fork, spoon and knife set up, and of course a leatherman.

Jesus is Lord.
