2021 Home Photo Challenge 1-7-21

The Home Photo Challenge was fun for me last year. Since I do not think much is going to be changing for me in the way of travel this year, I am going to continue the challenge for myself into 2021. This year I am going to add a little twist. I will give a brief description of each photo I take and write a Haiku to go along with it.

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN THE FUN.JUST TAKE A PHOTO IN OR AROUND YOUR HOME AND WRITE YOUR OWN BLOG AND POST THE LINK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW IT.

Some of my artist friends got me a sketching diary for Christmas this year. Here’s a quick sketch self portrait I did yesterday. I’m kind of lopsided.

Facing the mirror

Do I ever see the truth

Or just what I was?

…So About That Book

Those of you who have followed me for any length of time, know that I have been toying with the writing of a book for several years now.

I actually started the publishing process a few years back and had a contract signed with a publishing company. Then life got in the way and the dream died.

But here’s the thing, I am a big believer in dead things coming back to life!

This year the book came out of its proverbial grave clothes and now it is coming out of the shadows. I finished Pork Chops With the Sentinels Of Azatan just before Christmas!

Yes Ray it is done (Ray is the guy who keeps asking me about it)!!!!

I have contacted my publisher and they have released me from my contract as they are no longer in a position to be able to publish me. This frees me up to take the next steps towards publication of my first novel!

So here I am posting the first steps on this journey to the first completed work by J. Lillie. 2021 is the year folks! Here we go!!!

Endless Heart

Sammi Cox has issued writing challenge #172.

Here are the parameters: A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in the comments.

ALTERNATE CHALLENGE:

ENDLESS HEART

by J. Lillie

My friend says reality is killing him:Covid-19, lay-offs, election cycles, family stress, overdue bills, black lives matter and white man’s privlege, Democrats, Republicans and the scraps of whatever is left between them. It’s all too much for one man’s mind to fathom never mind survive.

The land’s enshrouded.

Darkness reigns for the moment

But the sun will burn through.

I tell my friend that Reality doesn’t kill. Reality brings life: love, joy, peace, long- suffering, gentleness, kindness, faith, meekness and self control. Surely sin has bent our perception of what is and made it everything that is not real. Reality is the kingdom of God within us.

Eternity dwells

In jars made of weak clay, so

Endless heart live on.

KISS THE WHEAT

The sun will soon meet

In the lap of the garden.

Setting fields ablaze.

Wheat and tares will burn.

Parted at last in harvest

Sun-kissed wheat will heal.

THE SIGHT WITHIN

by J.LILLIE

Everyone says it’s going to be all right. We’ll soon be back to normal…or at least a new normal. My soul sees something different. It ministers in images, like the old man sitting on the corner by the Cumberland Farms, mask down, waiting, just waiting for someone with “the bug” to walk by and breathe on him.

The light is fading.

It splashes across the sky

Beautiful dying.
