…So About That Book

Those of you who have followed me for any length of time, know that I have been toying with the writing of a book for several years now.

I actually started the publishing process a few years back and had a contract signed with a publishing company. Then life got in the way and the dream died.

But here’s the thing, I am a big believer in dead things coming back to life!

This year the book came out of its proverbial grave clothes and now it is coming out of the shadows. I finished Pork Chops With the Sentinels Of Azatan just before Christmas!

Yes Ray it is done (Ray is the guy who keeps asking me about it)!!!!

I have contacted my publisher and they have released me from my contract as they are no longer in a position to be able to publish me. This frees me up to take the next steps towards publication of my first novel!

So here I am posting the first steps on this journey to the first completed work by J. Lillie. 2021 is the year folks! Here we go!!!

  1. How wonderful and so exciting for you. I was so excited when my first book came out I called it “diaper time” because I wet my pants in all the excitement. lol Congratulations.

  2. How exciting! Getting a book published is quite an experience and you will learn a lot. Holding one of my author’s copies in my hand, then seeing my book in a bookstore made the work worth it for me.

  3. Our book was a self-help, how-to, business book for artists and craftspeople which is much different than writing fiction or even other forms of non-fiction. It was also published almost 20 years ago. The publishing business has changed greatly since then. I looked for publishers that specialized in that type of book. I was lucky, the first one I approached accepted it after a re-write. But I had researched them, followed their submission guidelines, and did the rewrite. Since they were investing their time, expertise, and money in our book we let them be the experts. It was like taking an advanced course in writing, editing, publishing, and compromise and we ended up with a much better book.
