#100Happydays Day 5

I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.

Day 5 here on the happiness trail where smiles are found in abundance. Today I am happy that I got to walk the Gardner track this weekend. It may have been between the raindrops but it was the exercise that mattered! And honestly the clouds were so beautiful, who could not be glad walking under them?

#100happydays Day 4

I think it’s important to find the little things in everyday life that make you happy.

Paula Cole

I am so glad my friends Nicole and Liz gave me the encouragement to take this challenge. Finding something to be happy about everyday is something we should all do and each day I am finding myself encouraged in the small things I would otherwise fail to notice.

For instance, I thought this would be an off year for some of my fruit trees. I was going to especially miss the sour cherries. They make such good jam; But when I checked the tree this morning here’s what I found.

#100happydays Day 2

I am on a happy kick. Like Pollyanna I am determined to find something to be glad about everyday. Really there are lots of things but here’s my happy thought for the day:

I am really happy about the progress of the community gardens being created in back of our church. This week we went from three to eleven beds!

The Waters Of Life

Cee’s Fun Foto challenge this week is “WATER”.

Check it out at

Here is my take on the subject

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”

“The next time you think you’re perfect, try walking on water.”
― Ziad K. Abdelnour

I chuckled when I read that last quote. It wasn’t perfection that allowed Jesus to walk on the water; It was faith and obedience. Both of those things always make a way to get the impossible done.

On the Move

“LOOKING

The world goes by, and what have I to do with it? I merely observe how the geese stretch their necks towards the orange rim of sky. I watch how light fades and children make their way home, hungry and tired. The bushes outside become ghosts while baths run and kitchen windows steam up with the cooking. This is the smell of our home, where I have a place in the wrinkled hours making beds and hugging boys awake. This is the sound of the house where I feel out lives into words, translate ragged nights and days into something whole, or try to. You may look if you wish….. The world goes by, and what have you or I to do with it, except perhaps for looking… ?”
