Blow them away like chaff in the wind—
a wind sent by the angel of the Lord.
6 Make their path dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.
7 I did them no wrong, but they laid a trap for me.
I did them no wrong, but they dug a pit to catch me.
8 So let sudden ruin come upon them!
Let them be caught in the trap they set for me!
Let them be destroyed in the pit they dug for me. Psalm 35:6-8
I don’t know the answer…but I do know that those words have been my “guilty secret” heart’s cry in the past….
I think that sometimes prayers like this are the beginning point of forgiveness. We cannot forgive until we first realize that we truly hate.
Ooooh, that is a good word, Pastor J. Sadly, I’m pretty self-aware…so I know that there’s bitterness/maybe all the way to “hatred” still rooted in me, and it’s not that I enjoy “hanging on to it”. I would love for God to complete that aspect of the work in me, so I could be more saintly and conform to what He commands….
Recognition is always the beginning of the process of relinquishing, but relinquishing is a progressive work, layer by layer we let it go and that can take years. God is not as concerned with the time it takes as with He is with our commitment to the journey.
You are the BEST–I feel greatly relieved and comforted–thanks!
You know there are things I have been working on all my Christian life. I think I am at the final victory line so often only to find I am just down another layer. Some of these onions are Vidalia size. I want them all to be pearl oniions.
Hahahaha–I’m visualizing those little pearl onions, yes! It is a bit amusing, the days when we think we’re so close to the victory line…just days ago I was confidently telling someone that “I have patience and endurance down!” Not arrogant or boastful, mind you–simply confident…probably 24 hrs later, the Impatience reared up. Gotta laugh, no use whipping myself with wet noodles–I need them for spaghetti 🙂
That’s the way to deal with it! Make spaghetti. I love spaghetti. I think I will make that for dinner. 🙂
Sounds good to me too–great comfort food (also, homemade mac and cheese)! I have some meat sauce in the freezer…might thaw it and cook some noodles 🙂
Oh boy homemade mac and cheese with ham!
I don’t usually put ham in mine–just because I rarely buy a ham…but I do remember scalloped potatoes with ham, and that was very Yummy!
