Rochelle hosts a group of some 100 writers weekly to tell tales from a picture she posts. The stories have to float around that magic number 100. So they don’t take too long to read. If you will click on the picture below it will take you right to Rochelle’s site and you can read all 100 or so stories there.

Things You Should Tell a Ten -Year- Old
by JE Lillie
My mother was one of them helicopter moms.
I didn’t mind her cutting the crust off my sandwiches or ironing my underpants. I guess I didn’t even mind her brushing my teeth but she never even let me play outside. She said it was too dangerous.
Here’s a heads-up hover moms, boys need to play. She may have locked up her gun, but the bullets she kept in her top drawer.
How was I to know you shouldn’t bake gun powder? The explosion was epic!
A resourceful little muppet. 🙂
Yes he was. I was explaining to another of Rochelle’s contributors this character was actually based off of my dad.
“Epic!”
I love that.
I’m glad my sons only blew things up out of the house. Model rockets seem a little safer.
That’s for stopping by,
Tracey
Hi Tracey! Thanks for reading. This story is based off something my father did. He actually did blow up his kitchen. Fortunately the house did not burn down!
That’s why I don’t hover over my boys. Fun read.
And that’s a good thing. They can blow up stuff out of doors.
Yup, boys will always find a way to cause havoc.. better let them do that — outside.
Yes indeed. My grandma learned this the hard way.
LOL, that was funny. From brushing his teeth to baking the gun powder. Epic indeed. Great story.
It does seem to suppose that boys who play outside don’t set fire to things. I am living proof that is not so. 😉
Good piece.
It is true but at least its usually not the living quarters which get burned down.
Dear Joseph,
Your dad must’ve been a little firecracker. Love the last line.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Yes he was.
Oh one must absolutely allow “boys to be boys”… otherwise… 🙂
Well said…:)
what can i say? boys will always be boys. 🙂
