This week’s Sunday Stills challenge is all about international cuisine.
As soon as I saw the theme I knew the picture I was going to post.
This is witloaf (pronounced Vit-loaf). It’s chicken wrapped in bacon on a bed of endive and baked in a cheese crust smothered with a special red sauce. YUMMMMY! But what I remember about the meal beyond the great taste was the wonderful company. Thanks to Willem and Mirjam Jackson for the memories!

Oh My!
Very yummy! Did you have Witloaf while you were in the Netherlands? It seems it is a seasonal holiday dish.
I just spent the afternoon there – really didn’t eat much.
Ahh. No pancake boats then? That is an experience I have yet to have but I hope next time I am in country my sister will take me to one.
I may have to tag along
Sounds like fun!
It does look YUMMY, Pastor J! I was just wondering have you tried to reproduce this recipe yourself?
My sister is trying to get a recipe for the special red sauce which is the key apparently along with the cheese crust which you don’t see around these parts.
I’ve not long ago had a good meal – but now I feel hungry! It looks yummy.
It is especially delicious!
That’s a good one. .. Gotta figure out the sauce so we can make it when I am home.
YES!YES! YES!
