Share Your World 2014 Week 36

I missed Sharing my world last week because I was away in the Berkshires leading worship and caregiving for guests at the New England Special Touch Getaway! So this week I am answering question for two weeks to catch myself up. When you have finished sharing a bit of my world find out about other worlds by going to:

http://ceenphotography.com/2014/09/08/share-your-world-2014-week-36/share-your-world2

Let’s start with this week’s questions from Cee:

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?

My first book is the Bible. I read several chapters daily (that’s non-fiction in case there might be any confusion) After that I am a big fiction reader. I am currently fascinated by anything to do with the English royal lineage and I am particularly stuck in the War of the Roses.

What is your biggest fear or phobia? (no photos please)

I dislike new things and change. That means currently I am being HUGELY stretched because everything in my life is new experiences.

What is your favorite cheese?

I love Gouda.

What is your favorite month of the year?

I like November. It is my birthday month and Thanksgiving and  this year we will have my daughter’s wedding in November!

Now as to last week’s questions:

Have your blogging goals changed?

When I started blogging on “Reinventing the We’ll” I thought I would be talking about the empty nest. I ended up doing a whole lot with photography and of course sharing the Christian message. I also never expected to get so involved in the blogging community. That has been a happy surprise!

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?

I think I would be a clown.

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself?  Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 45?

I think I would tell myself to take better advantages of the opportunities that presented themselves. To be more proactive and less reactive. Time passes quickly and some things only present themselves for a brief period.

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

I have to have my daily nutty buddy with a hot cup of coffee.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so thankful for the opportunity I had to help my friends at Special Touch Ministry. The work we did there will last into eternity. I was privileged to baptize three of our camp guests. The joy each guest expressed coming out of the waters of baptism is not something I will soon forget.100_4726

I am looking forward to planning out the Toy Town Fall Festival this week. It is my next big project and now I can put my full attention to it!

Share Your World 2014 Week 33

share-your-world2

Once again it is time to share my world with Cee. Every week Cee asks four questions (and a bonus). We her readers answer and by this everyone has a chance to know us better. A few weeks ago everyone learned I like spaghetti sauce with my peanut butter. This week you will learn:

Do you believe in ghosts?

I answer with a qualified yes. I believe there are evil spirits that roam the earth (that is biblical by the way see Job 1:7, Rev. 12:9) and I believe they masquerade as the spirits of our dearly departed (2 Cor. 11:14,  1 Sam. 28) for the purpose of deceiving us and drawing us away from the One true God. This is why we are commanded in Scripture not to consult with those who speak to the dead (Deut. 18) . That is perhaps a longer answer than you were looking for but there you go.

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?

I would be a professional snowboarder or maybe an acrobat.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

I prefer short hair on myself. It is getting shorter (or more non-existent) with every passing year.

If you were on an small island, who would you want to be with? And where is it?  How big is it?

My island is big enough to get away from a tsunami but not so big that I can’t get to the beach easily. It is in a zone where the temps stay 75 all the time. I would love to have my family with me on the island. Friends can come and stay for up to two weeks but I need my privacy in between visits.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful to have gotten my sister all settled in at our house for the next year. The office is set up so she can work.  Now I am looking forward to our dogs transitioning in with each other which will be a lot easier once the female is out of heat!

Now learn a bit about Cee and her other contributors:

Share Your World 2014 Week 32

Every week (or almost every week) for the last three years I have been skipping over to Cee’s place in Oregon  to answer four questions she poses to all her readers. In the process I have gotten to know Cee and her readers and they have gotten to know me.

This little exercise is a great way to make connections here in the blogosphere; So let me encourage you, when you are done here why don’t you skip over to Cee’s place too and read some of her other contributors and then take the plunge and answer her four questions for yourself.

http://ceenphotography.com/2014/08/11/share-your-world-2014-week-32

share-your-world2

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard?

I am not a ketchup or mustard fan. I prefer to mix them together with a little brown sugar and soy sauce to make BBQ

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

I think my life would make a great comedy/drama. I have had plenty of both but I like to focus on the laughter. We do tend to take ourselves a bit too seriously most days.

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

I would be a trip around the world because then I could travel with someone! 🙂

For potlucks or parties do you cook it yourself, buy from a grocery store, or pay for catering?

Oh I wish I always had time to cook it myself but most times I am the guy buying potato salad from the deli on the way to church potlucks (I buy a lot of potato salad)

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up.

I am grateful my sister made it to my home from her home in the Netherlands. I am looking forward to getting her State-side cell hooked back up tomorrow with no problems (fingers crossed)!

Share Your World – 2014 Week 30

Now on to…

THE QUESTIONS!

List 2 things you have to be happy about.

Oh, I have so many things to be happy about! I am blessed that God found me some thirty years ago when I was lost and on a very dark path, And I am blessed that He placed me in a wonderful church family with whom I get to share life! I could go on about the wonderful family he has put me in or the adventures he has sent me on but since that entails more than two happinesses and since I am trying to keep this post under 1,000 words I will stop there.

List at least 2 things in nature do you find most beautiful.

I will limit myself ,again, to two things  for the sake of brevity…

The everchanging sky

I love the ever-changing sky

And the running of water

And the running of water

Show us a 2 of your favorites photographs. Explain why they are your favorite.   If you are not a photographer (serious or otherwise), think of a two favorite scenes in your life and tell us about them.

This is a really hard one. I am tossed between choosing a photo for artistic value or for the memory it inspires. I guess I will choose one of each though I have lots of both.

Smoke

I am still playing with the incense  photos I took at my son’s home on my last trip to PA but I am pretty pleased with this one and might even hang it at our upcoming art show.

100_1033

These are my three wonderful children. From left to right: Melanie (gets married this fall she and her future husband are children’s ministers soon to be credentialed), Joe (planning to teach English over seas when he is finished with his masters) and Amanda (just graduated from Bible College and plans to become a credentialed minister serving the disabled population of the U.S.)

List 2 of your best personality traits.

I think two of my best personality traits are patience and contentment.  I consider neither of these to be personal attainments but gifts from God!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so thankful that my sister’s car is finally registered (in preparation for her return from Holland for her year of intineration) and I am looking forward to our mechanic being able to fix all the car’s little issues so that it will be ready for Brenda when she arrives.

THE QUESTIONS!!!!

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

I have never been in a submarine. I might consider touring one if it was above water and if all hands promised that it would stay above water for the duration of my visit.

Are you a listener or talker?

I can be both depending on the situation. I do a lot of listening, though, and I have tried hard to train myself not to insinuate my two cents into a session where someone is pouring their heart out to me.

Do you prefer crunchy peanut butter or smooth peanut butter?   Anything with your peanut butter?

I like crunchy peanut butter and I really like spaghetti sauce with with my peanut butter. If the spaghetti has hamburg in it the peanut butter does not need to be crunchy. I see those looks.Don’t be a hater! 🙂

Have you ever been drunk?

I have never been drunk and for that I am very thankful.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful for a great weekend with C.cada, our artists collaborative. Here are some photos of current projects we are working on.

I am really looking forward to bringing communion out to the people at the GVNA this week. These are such heart-warming services!

So when you have finished seeing things here kindly saunter on over to Cee’s and see what her other contributors have seen and said!

This week Cee asks:

Have you ever been a participant in a parade? What did you do?

I have been in many parades in my day. When I was little I always marched with my cub scout pack. Then later as a teen I marched in the band. I played the flute.

If you were handed free opera tickets, would you go or sell them? Why?

I would totally go. I love opera.

Why did you start your blog?

I have always written but life’s big changes urged me to take the writing public.

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

I love Thanksgiving dinner. I have found I actually really love cooking it. I also love when Christmas falls on a Sunday. There is nothing more Dickensian than a Christmas Sunday service.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Share Your World 2014 Week 27

I am actually getting to share my world with Cee  early this week! I cannot tell you how excited that makes me.

When you have finished reading my shares go visit Ceeland and see what her other contributors have said.

http://ceenphotography.com/2014/07/07/share-your-world-2014-week-27/

If you were the architect of one existing building, which building would you select?

I think it would have to be a Victorian house. I thought about being the architect for some huge city office building or skyscraper. It would probably bring me more fame but not as much satisfaction as knowing I had built a shelter for a family’s lifetime.

lONGWOOD 014

What is one of your favorite quotes?

My all-time favorite quote is “Take time for the quiet moments; For God whispers and the world is loud.”

What color do you feel most comfortable wearing?

I feel best in black.

What is something you learned in the last week?

I learned the difference between elderberry and pokeberry.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful for a beautiful Fourth of July Weekend. I am looking forward to  preaching at this week’s Special Touch Disability awareness Day on Saturday and  on Sunday morning at Cornerstone.

Share Your World 2014 Week 26

share-your-world2

It is really hard to believe we  half way through the year! If you had told me all of the blessings I could expect out of 2014 in January, I would not have believed you. If you had told me how I would change this year I would have doubted you highly…but here we are!

I answer this week’s questions with a heart full of gratefulness for what this year has been.

When you have finished please check out Cee’s other contributors at…

Share Your World – 2014 Week 26

Is your refrigerator, organized or a mess inside?

My refrigerator is still a mess but it is not half the mess it use to be! I am getting a real grip on things like cleaning schedules and what not. I told my Lead Pastor the other day in staff meeting I have never been more organized than I am at this point of my life! It is truly amazing the changes that have happened in me this year.

If you could be famous for one thing, what would it be?

I would love to be a famous author.

What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?

There are so many things I would like still to do but I guess in light of the last question my answer would be to publish a book and have it be successful.

Where do you eat breakfast?

I eat breakfast at the dining table usually while I am reading.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am very grateful that last week I got to visit my son in Pennsylvania. This week I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and getting organized for the upcoming Special Touch event, visiting with missionaries from China and leading our first Cloverton organizational meeting. Yes!Cloverton is coming to Cornerstone in the fall and I am pastoring the team that is organizing the concert. 🙂

Share Your World 2014: Week 23

share-your-world2

This post was prepared for Cee’s Share Your World Challenge at

http://ceenphotography.com/2014/06/09/share-your-world-2014-week-23/

Head on over when your done here. I am quite sure you will find some very interesting answers to her questions there!

Here are my answers:

Would your rather be stuck in a small plane with mild turbulence for 2 hours or be a passenger in a car racing the Daytona 500?

I think either would be quite fun. However I have done the small plane turbulence thing so I choose the car race as it would be a new experience.

Would you rather be alone with nobody in the vicinity for one month or never be alone not even for a minute for one month?

Oh my goodness never being alone for a month sounds like somebody’s version of Hell (Oh yeah mine).

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?

Oooo a burrow please. It would make me feel like a Hobbit.

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

I like being driven. Not that that ever happens mind you but I like to be a passenger (or at least I use to)

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for so many things you can find a few of them here:

Share Your World 2014 Week 22

Week 22????? Do you know what this means?!? We are almost half way through the year 2014!!! Folks it’s almost Christmas!!! share-your-world2 Today’s post is brought to you by Cee at

http://ceenphotography.com/2014/06/02/share-your-world-2014-week-22/

I am quite sure she has already finished her Christmas shopping. Meanwhile here I am just getting started (late as usual) with week 22 of sharing my world and I think I might have totally missed week twenty-one and several of the teen weeks. My tardiness lately is giving me serious  doubts that I am going to be ready for Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza or any other holiday before February of 2015. Can I have a little more time please?

So Cee asks…

Regarding animals would you prefer not having them around or having domestics pets, farm animals, or seeing them in nature or the zoo?

I love my little white dogs. They are great company  but I have often wondered what it would be like to keep chickens or goats. Everyone says I am crazy to even think it. And I probably don’t have time for them anyway. I certainly would never have time to get them Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanza gifts;  So I guess my little dogs will just have to do.Christmas presents]tmas-tree Are you a collector of anything?

Books! Books! And more books! I use to collect rocks. That doesn’t take as much time but rocks are not as much fun to read. And few people like to get rocks for Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanza so having a book collection can be advantageous if you are pressed for time.

🙂

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

Why is it the older you get the faster time seems to go? I mean, it seems like it should work the other way around. When I was a kid I just wanted things to go slower and Christmas always seemed years away (we didn’t celebrate Chanukah and Kwanza hadn’t even been invented). Now it seems I don’t even have time to lose the Christmas decorations in the attic before it’s time to find them again.

If you were to treat yourself to the “finer things” what would you treat yourself to?

A Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanza shopping spree is the only thing that comes to mind this week.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful it wasn’t Christmas, Chanukah or Kwanza. And apparently I am looking forward to starting my holiday shopping. It is rather odd where these questions take me sometimes! 🙂
