A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you’re in and take advantage of it. Nikki Giovanni

Sunday Sermon Quotes 3-31-19
Here are some thoughts I took away from our sermon at Cornerstone Church today.
Remember you will pick up what you put down.

2 things you can control…your attitude and your effort.

Rock of ages
Remember…PRAY LISTEN AND OBEY and God will take care of the WOW
If you refuse to serve you will never be fit to lead.

The church needs to: repent of actions words and heart attitudes….we are the church
The Word of God is not a game.
When it comes to God we have to stop saying…we can’t afford to..when..the truth is we cant afford not to

We Desire God…But Addiction…

“After twenty years of listening to the yearnings of people’s hearts, I am convinced that all human beings have an inborn desire for God. Whether we are consciously religious or not, this desire is our deepest longing….It gives us meaning….It is a hunger to love, to be loved, and to move closer to the Source of love…. But something gets in the way….Our desires are captured and we give ourselves over to things that, in our deepest honesty, we really do not want….Addiction…turns us away from love…..Addiction attaches desire, bonds, and enslaves the energy of desire to certain specific behaviors, things, or people….Addiction is the powerful psychic enemy of humanity’s desire for God.” Gerald May
Relationship Must Not Be Avoided!

“Since we are created in His (God’s ) likeness, relationship is out most fundamental need, the very foundation of who we are. Without relationship, without attachment to God and others, we can’t be our true selves. We can’t be truly human.” Dr. Henry Cloud
Quote of the Day June 9, 2018
“If…we dare to respond as Father God call us out to become His men, if we allow Him to nail our pride and our plans to the cross, we’re eligible at last to receive His Spirit and do our appointed task in restoring His kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.”- From Healing the Masculine Soul

Spiritual Journey 2018 Day 3

As I prepare my heart for what lies ahead I am learning that silence is a powerful ally in the war for my spirit. Our world is to fast and loud and the Holy Spirit is calling me away from it to just sit at His feet and listen.
Here are some of the things I am hearing and meditating on today.
There is a sense as we humans go into prayer that the momentary is lost…falling victim to the eternal. We, who are so caught up in time, struggle hard with the loss of the momentary and in so doing we sometimes give up on prayer before it can establish its eternal ends.” J. Lillie

The terrible threat against life is not death, nor pain, nor any variation on the disasters that we so obsessively try to protect ourselves against with our social systems and personal stratagems. The terrible threat is that we might die earlier than we really do die, before death has become a natural necessity. The real horror lies in just such a premature death, a death after which we go on living for many years.” Viteslav Gardavsky
Spiritual Journey 2018 Day 1

Our congregation has embarked on a 21 day corporate spiritual journey of seeking the Lord for the coming year using the ancient disciplines of the church.
Our pastor has asked us to begin to seek God for a greater excellence, a leaving behind of mediocrity and luke-warmness. Already I have been challenged in many areas of my life.
I have chosen as my study, in addition to the Bible, Eugene Peterson’s book RUN WITH THE HORSES.
Here is the day one quotation I am dwelling on.
The more the gospel is offered in consumer terms, the more consumers are disappointed. The gospel is not a consumer product; it doesn’t satisfy what we think of as our “needs”. …life… is not an American ‘pursuit of happiness’. It is more like God’s pursuit… (of us)” Eugene Peterson itallics mine
Things That Last

We can do impressive things without God but not lasting things. ANDY NEEDHAM
