Share Your World 2016 Week 31

I shared last week’s world yesterday and today I am sharing this week’s world with you all.

I know that statement might have confused some of you. Let me explain. Every week Cee Neuner asks five questions of her contributors. In answering them we all share our worlds. I have been a little behind so this week I am sharing my world not once but twice.

share-your-world2

NOW SHOULD THE SHARING OF TWO WORLDS IN ONE WEEK NOT BE QUITE ENOUGH YOU CAN CLICK HERE AND FIND TWENTY OR THIRTY MORE WORLDS TO SHARE IN!

Who knows maybe you will even  do a little sharing of your own!

Here are the questions and my answers

What is your favorite part of the town/city you live in.  And what Country do you live?

I live in the state of Of Massachusetts on the Eastern coast of the U.S. I love the forests of our town and the back roads.

Would you rather wear clown shoes every day or a clown wig every day?

Clown shoes not even a question. A wig would make my head sweat.

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?

I have been told there are rules about such things. I have never taken the time to learn what they are.  I count myself blessed to have toilet paper and to have a toilet to put it in.

What do you do to make a living or during the day?  If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?

I am a minister on staff at a growing church. My portfolio includes: Music and the arts and discipleship.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I had such a wonderful vacation. I am very glad that I will soon be going home from my first full day back at the office for a nap before my meeting tonight!

Staycation Pt. 2

So I wrote yesterday about my prayer goals during my recent staycation. I feel like God is leading me through some life change and that is a really good thing. I feel like I am gaining a clearer focus and while some tough choices may lie ahead I think that they will ultimately take me to the place where God really wants me to focus my energy.

But I also found some time to relax during this vacation. I actually spent the better part of one day in bed for a much needed rest.

I finished another book.

I went to breakfast with my friend Jody.

And I saw two movies. I went to one with my friend Gerry and I saw the Bourne movie by myself.

How do you like to spend your vacations?

Share Your World 2016 Week #30

I am still running behind but doing the vacation catch up thing. So here is my share your world answers for last week.

You can find a slew of world sharers by clicking THIS LINK.

Doanes 1

Here are the questions and my answers.

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

I love a good hot soak every once in a while but mostly I am just a quick shower type of guy. I hardly have time to run a bath never mind soak in it!

If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?

I would choose an unlimited shopping spree at Amazon.com. That way I do not have to leave home and I can stop to make a sandwich when I get tired of spending money. 🙂

If you could be one age for the rest of your life, what age would that be?

I would choose to be seventeen as long as I could overcome the teenage angst and sense of powerlessness I felt. Having the body of a seventeen year old without any of the personality draw backs that come from lack of wisdom and experience would be just awesome!

List at least five movies that cheer you up.

I love triumph stories. Here are a few I have recently seen that sent me away saying, “THAT WAS AWESOME!”

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I had a great vacation (details to come in future posts) and this week I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things at work.

Staycation 2016 Pt. 1

So this year my plan was to visit my son in South Korea for my summer vacation. Unfortunately I ended up owing on April 15th rather than getting back…Sad :(.

062

So my South Korean vacation turned into a New England staycation. God is always in control. As it turns out sticking around was all part of His plan.

I decided to take a portion of my time and spend it in concerted prayer about my schedule for this next year. I have been sensing for a while that things are about to change.

A few weeks before my vacation I approached  Father Mike over at Immaculate Heart and asked him if I could use his sanctuary during my vacation as a sacred space to center down and pray. He readily agreed. Thank you Father Mike!

Then I approached my teams with a list of all the things I am involved in and asked them to rate those things on a 1-10 scale as to their importance in my life. I took all this information with me into prayer. The results I imagine will be forthcoming.

Share Your World 2016 Week 28

share-your-world2

As some of you know Cee took the week of from Share Your World last week; So week 27 is as nonexistent at the 13th floor in some hotels. But here we are at week 28 answering her 5 sharing questions once again.

YOU CAN SEE EVERYONE’S ANSWER TO THE QUESTIONS HERE.

Here are Cee’s five weekly sharing questions and my answers.

What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory is a recurring nightmare I had when I was a little boy. We lived in a great big Victorian set into a hillside. The house was grey and black and to this day gives me the heebie-jeebies when I drive past it.

My parents rented one side and another family rented the other side. Anyway I remember dreaming many nights in my crib that two giant fat ghosts would pop through the wall beside my crib (yes I was that young) and sit on me. The ghosts were men with big noses always wearing Hawaiian shirts. Crazy I know but I remember the dreams vividly.

What was the last photo you took with your phone?

Have you ever danced in the rain?

No I am not a big fan of getting my feet wet.

What is the longest you have gone without sleep?

36 hours. Brutal!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful that our team at Cornerstone had a wonderful teamwork training led by our leadership coach, Paul Hackett. What a brilliant guy! I am looking forward to the second part of the training next Monday and then I am on vacation!

Share Your World 2016 Week 26

Well it has been weeks and weeks since I have shared my world. At least that is how it feels. For those of you who may have forgotten how this works, every week Cee Neuener. Share Your World’s Hostess, asks five questions. In answering them we (her contributors) share our worlds with you (our readers).

YOU CAN MEET ALL OF CEE’S SHARERS HERE.

Now here are her questions and my answers:

What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight?

I love flying. I think my favorite flight though was aboard Iceland Air heading to the Netherlands. Flying into Keflavik was simply amazing. It felt like I was flying over the moon.

100_0045

How many bones, if any, have you broken?

I am one of those fortunate few who have never broken a bone (where’s the nearest piece of wood to knock on). I have sprained my ankle quite a few times badly enough to need crutches but no breaks.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know) Adam (first question “What were you thinking?”),  Elijah ( First question, “Was the chariot of fire hot?”), Jeremiah ( First question, “How did you keep it together when  no one would listen?”)

Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?

I am currently reading: Psalms, Nearer To God: How To Pray With Prophetic Power,  The Floating Island

I am currently watching:

 and

This very moment I am listening too:

Needing, wanting, missing? Nothing I am content and replete.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I got to preach on Sunday last…you can find the sermon in excerpted form on my sermons page entitled “RUN?”

I am looking forward to going to the zoo on July 4th with my daughter and trying out my new camera.

Here are the questions and my answers:

What is the most fun thing you did in school?

I loved so much about school. I loved English, and writing was one of the fun things I got to do a lot of. I also had a lot of fun in band, and I will always cherish my memories of tournament of plays.

What is your favorite type of dog?  (can be anything from a specific breed, a stuffed animal or character in a movie).

I love the smaller breeds. I have really fallen for the Maltese. Although keeping their fur and nails good is something of a chore.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

Yes. I have learned to do most social things as a single now.

Complete this sentence:  Never In My Life Have I….

Wow! There are so many “nevers”. Never in my life have I jumped out of a plane. Never in my life have I bungie jumped. Never in my life have I been on a cruise. And never in my life have I desperately wanted to do any of those things. 🙂

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to read at a local poets gathering last Sunday. It was so much fun and I met so many fascinating people. I met someone I knew there; So no I guess I wasn’t alone.

This next week I am looking forward to  working some more on my the Genesis story of SOA.

Share Your World 2016 Week 23

Holy Cow! I posted Share Your World week 21 last night thinking that was the latest, and here I am reading posts from week 23. Am I out of the loop or what?!? Well it’s time to come out of the past and step into the present. So here for your reading pleasure is my time of sharing my answers to Cee’s week 23 questions. Maybe sometime in the future I will go back and answer questions from week 22 just for fun!

share-your-world2

What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

My father owned a diner in our hometown; So one of my first jobs was dish washing, but dad was big on personal responsibility and earning your own way and so I actually started delivering papers when I was nine. I had 126 daily papers. I think that job in some ways was harder than dish washing. I have to say I loved paper delivery so much I went back to it as an adult and ran two circulation offices before becoming a Pastor.

What is your favorite month of the year?

November.

What three things in nature do you find most beautiful?

I love the ocean, waterfalls and gardens.

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper)

I am a big fan of basil. I love oregano and garlic. I also love cumin and corriander.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Since I already used the vacation thing on week 21 I guess I will have to get a little more specific. I am so glad I got to read two books in the fantasy series I am currently working my way through.

This week I am looking forward to meeting with my friends from the Winchendon Enhancement Comittee and beginning to plan the Fall Fest and the programming that will go on the soon to be acquired Ingleside property which has been two years in the works.
