Share Your World Week Of Jan. 29, 2018

share-your-world2

I have been away from my writing desk for a few weeks visiting with my son who was home from his teaching post in South Korea. He has gone back now and here I am sitting and tapping the keys to SHARE MY WORLD.  Most of you who read me with any regularity know that Share Your world is a challenge I have been involved with for about six years now. It is hosted by Cee Neuner over at Cee’s Photography.

Each week Cee asks questions and in answering them we all share our worlds with each other. When you are done reading my response to Cee’s questions here, pop on over to Cee’s place using the links underlined above and read some of her work and the work of her contributors.

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?

My usual go to answer for questions like this is Barnes & Noble but just Monday I had occasion to visit my first Hobby Lobby. If I had an unlimited shopping spree there I think I could buy the store out.

What is the worst thing you ate recently?

There are two things I ate recently that have made me a little green. I recently had some homemade roast beef hash. The hash was OK but the chef mixed butternut squash in with it….not so good. The other was a meatloaf I had just last night. Not everything was fully mixed in and, yeah, melted Ritz crackers mixed with congealed hamburg fat….again not do good.

As the new year dawns, it is time to get back to sharing our worlds. Share Your World is the challenge in which our hostess Cee asks a few questions and in answering them, we her contributors, share the world.

After you have finished reading the questions and my answers click the underlined link and pop on over to Cee’s place to see how the rest of the world shared!

Here are the questions and my answers:

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

I love a long hot bath. That said I usually only have time for showers.

What do you do to make a living or during the day? If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?

I am the Sr. Associate Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Winchendon MA. I spend my days leading prayer groups, Bible studies, planning church life and outreach, I lead worship and generally try to love God and people.

Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?

No. But there are two real animals who live with me in my room.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

I just started Eugene Peterson’s Book RUN WITH THE HORSES….This quote really grabbed me this week.

“The Bible makes it clear that every time there is a story of faith, it is completely original. God’s creative genius is endless. He never, fatigued and unable to maintain the rigors of creativity, resorts to mass-producing copies. Each life is a fresh canvas on which he uses lines and colors, shades and lights, textures and proportions that he has never used before.”

Here are my thoughts as I close out the year.

What caring thing are you going to do for yourself today?

All this week I have been taking some time to regroup from the busyness of the season. As the new year approaches I am taking hold of a new confession…In my jubilee year I AM GOING TO SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY THE JOURNEY!

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper)

I love coriander, cumin, cilantro, basil, and oregano…Ok I know that most of those are herbs but still…

What can you always be found with?

My canvas carrying bag. Which is generally filled with books, notebooks, journals, pens and schedules…Oh and my phone.

Cee’s weekly questions have become one of my favorite writing exercises. I just love the opportunity to give everyone a little peek behind the curtain of my life and I love reading about the lives of others across the world.

Below are this week’s questions and my answers. When you have finished click HERE and go to Cee’s site to read her other contributors.

What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I don’t mind most housework. That said I am not a very good housekeeper. I guess if I had to pick a least favorite I would say ironing. I don’t. That is why God made sweaters and vests.

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?

My prayer life is the most vibrant part of my life right now. I am feeling very challenged to a deeper relationship with God.

How many times have you moved in the last ten years?

I have moved once. That’s a short sentence for a very long story.

This thought really challenged and encouraged me this week:

“In ministry, servanthood is where all authority is manifested.”100_3329

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday not just because of the food but because of the spirit of thanks it conjures up. In this world of complaints and divisions I think we can always use a little more gratefulness.

I am thankful for the opportunity Cee has given everyone in the blogosphere to SHARE THEIR WORLDS.

See…it wasn’t so hard at all to find something to be thankful for! Here are Cee’s sharing questions and my answers. When you’ve finished pop on over to Cee’s place using the underlined link above and see how others have shared their worlds.

If you were having difficulty on an important test and could safely cheat by looking at someone else’s paper, would you do so?

No I would not. Cheaters never win in the end. Besides, tests (even important tests) never show who we really are. They are only place markers for where we are. Cheating only keeps us from knowing our current place in the world. If we don’t first acknowledge our place we can never successfully move from it.

What things in nature do you find most beautiful?

I love the sky and trees against it.

Complete this sentence: When I travel I love to….

Rest, meditate and learn.

this thought came to mind in prayer this week and it created a shift in my heart.

Victory in the spirit world is never about supremacy. It is about intimacy. It is never about coming in first or reaching the top. In fact in the spirit realm victory often requires failure or willingly taking the lower position. Victory comes in realizing that the power position does not matter. Connection with the Spirit matters.

Well it’s that time again folks. Time to Share Our Worlds!

Share your world contributors all share their worlds by answering five questions from our hostess Cee and then linking back to her blog. To see all the sharing going on click the underlined link above.

Before you do that though, here are the week’s questions and my answers:

Where do you eat breakfast?

Breakfast is usually a cup of coffee while I am praying and then sometimes a couple slices of toast eaten in front of the morning news.

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want have a evening with?

I would spend an evening with my sister, mother and kids. My kids are taking me to the Trans Siberian Orchestra for my fiftieth in a few weeks.

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

today I would be a lavender bush or a Witch Hazel Tree. I love the fragrances.

Well it may be the 27th today but I am still catching up from my week away at the pastor’s conference. So I am a little behind in Sharin’ Mah World.

If it’s not too late for me, it’s not too late for you either. So click the link above and go share your world.

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

Was school easy or difficult for you? How so?

School itself was easy for me. I loved learning and I was good at it. My brain wrapped itself around knowledge like a hungry python wraps around its prey. that said I was not popular. Socially I was an outcast and there were times when that was difficult.

List some of your favorite types of animals.

I love little dogs

I love cats

I am getting an early jump this week on SHARING MY WORLD.

The underlined link above will take you to the Share Your World site. That is where Queen Cee of Share Your World reigns. Every week she releases her dispensation of four or five new questions and in answering them  we all share our worlds. Come join the kingdom!

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

What do you consider is the most perfect food for you? (It can be your favorite food to something extremely healthy.)

The most perfect food for me changes almost daily according to my hankerin’. Today I want a nice juicy pot roast. I just happen to have one in the freezer.

Are you focused on today or tomorrow?

I don’t have the luxury of focusing on one or the other. I have to constantly plan for the future or it eats me alive but I have to live in the present or it passes me by and then the future eats me alive.

If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be (if you know their name) and what would you ask?

I would talk to my great great great grandfather Tandy or my great great grandfather May both of whom were ministers in the same area I minister in. I would ask them what were the greatest and most effective tools they used in ministering to our people.

I was privileged to perform the ceremony for this young couple from our church on Sunday afternoon. I was so blessed for the love of this groom for his bride.
