My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:1-10
All but verse 9–I totally enjoy tithing 🙂 Everything else requires God’s “1000th request” memos.
Verse 9 was actually one of my great struggles.
Isn’t that interesting…it wasn’t till 2011 that I heard Pastor Robert Morris teach on tithing in such a way that I totally caught the joyful revelation. And it’s true that I wasn’t always faithful each month, for awhile–but as years passed, I became more and more committed, and now I can’t imagine not doing it–not just to please God, but because it’s Fun for me 🙂
I do agree. Tithing is a thing which grows on you and in you. My daughter has an amazing gift in this area and it extends to her giving and receiving. I have learned to live through giving but this has been a supernatural work of grace in my life and not a natural state at all. God currently has me walking a year of faith (at least a year without a fixed salary). This has been an eye opening time for me. He has literally taken care of every need.
Oh Wowza, that is SO cool, Bro! I’d still like to send you the new Lucado book, if you’re interested–it can be a b’day-Xmas gift 🙂 And if you’ll trust me with your home address (send in email), I’ll order it pronto.
Why thank you. I will send to you in an e-mail and thank you in advance.
You’re most welcome!!
