THE GARDEN OF REQUIREMENT

By J. Lillie

Jared called it “The Garden of Requirement”, a play off of the Harry Potter books, his favorite reads.

Jenna called it a mess. Jared’s garden was a hodgepodge of broken toilets filled with violets and refrigerators filled with manure and beef steak tomato plants.

He haled it as repurposing. She complained it was just putting other people’s old junk on their lawn, but then the people began to come, just to look at the junk. Jared began to charge a walk-through fee. When Jared bought Jenna her first diamond necklace Jenna began to love the Garden of Requirement.

Who’s Your Mommy?

My mother served as a nurse her entire life. She worked in an emergency ward in the inner city on the graveyard shift when I was young. She moved to a local health clinic to be a nurse for one of the General practitioners in town when I was a young teenager. That job lasted until after I was married. She finished her career working the critical care building at A Developmental Center a few towns over from our home.

Mom has always been a hard worker, with a firm but kind manner and an extremely sharp wit. Here she is at my daughter’s wedding a few years ago sitting with my son Joe.

These days mom lives with me, my sister and my oldest daughter at the Vicarage which has been our family home for something like forty-five years. She has created quite a legacy to leave to the world.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM!

Morning Direction From Scripture 5-10-20

The Lord says to my lord:[a]

“Sit at my right hand
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet.”

The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of your enemies!”
Your troops will be willing
    on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy splendor,
your young men will come to you
like dew from the morning’s womb.[b]

The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever,
    in the order of Melchizedek.”

The Lord is at your right hand[c];
he will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead
and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.
He will drink from a brook along the way,[d]
and so he will lift his head high. Psalm 110

What is the role of a biblical priest?

Fear Post-12

The current situation is stirring deep emotions across the whole world. As the shut-in wears on the emotions of people wear thin. As some countries face a second wave of Covid-19 we here in America are finding it hard to deal with our first wave. The “what to do” does not seem too readily present itself. In this present scenario of uncertainty, fear and mistrust are finding roots in the hearts of many. But we must never give in to the emotion of fear. Instead we must remember…

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
