Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens,
you who have done great things.
Who is like you, God?
20 Though you have made me see troubles,
many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.
21 You will increase my honor
and comfort me once more. Psalm 71:19-21

Nice direction. Thanks

If it’s a person who is hurting me, I pray for them. Praying for someone who is hurting you and causing trials is one of the hardest things you can do… But it really is true that you can’t hold a grudge against someone you’re praying for. But if it’s life in general that is being unfair – because of finances, health, overwhelming circumstances, etc – I try to focus on helping others in need. I take my eyes off of myself and send a card. Deliver a meal. Find a need and see what I can do to help. Then I stop feeling sorry for myself and let go of bitterness. 🙂
Really good stuff Nicole. The work you mention here is very good and never easy but soooo necessary if we are to keep moving forward in Christ. Bitterness is one of the chief reasons that Christian growth gets stunted.
So true!!
