Here is my bit:
Where Curses Come From
by JE Lillie
The wilderness is a curse.
We grumbled as we left Elim.
God sent the manna and the quail.
We quarreled at Rephidim.
God gave us water from the rock.
We trembled at Mt. Sinai.
God gave us commandments.
We shrank back at Kadesh
God gave us forty years hard time in the wilderness.
We rebelled with Korah
God judged us.
Perhaps it is not the wilderness.

Beautifully said. Perfect. Great job.
Excellent writing – thought-provoking.
Thanks!
Very fascinating, although I have to confess that I didn’t understand all the references.

They are all from the Old Testament books of Exodus and Numbers and concern the journey of the Israelites through the wilderness. They had many troubles but none so great as their own hearts.
Forty years is a long time… the last line says it all
We so often deny the truth that we are our own worst enemies. At least I have found that to be truth in my own situation.
You express this very clearly. We human beings have a persistent tendency to make poor choices even when we should know better.
It seems hardwired into our DNA.
