Morning Direction From Scripture 6-1-17

Let death stalk my enemies;
    let the grave[b] swallow them alive,
    for evil makes its home within them.

16 But I will call on God,
    and the Lord will rescue me.
17 Morning, noon, and night
    I cry out in my distress,
    and the Lord hears my voice.
18 He ransoms me and keeps me safe
    from the battle waged against me,
    though many still oppose me.
19 God, who has ruled forever,
    will hear me and humble them. Interlude
For my enemies refuse to change their ways;
    they do not fear God. Psalm 55:15-19

Have you ever wished someone dead? How did that wish affect your life?

  1. Hmmm this a very important question. As long as we are part of this world, there will always be people that wants you dead even without you knowing who they are. The scriptures admonishes us to suffer not a witch to live. Those kind of people takes no pleasure in you being alive and so as warriors of Christ we are to stop them before they stop us and by so doing we have actually prayed for someone to die. It’s really painful but the truth is someone needs to leave for others to be free. May God continue to help us to love and pray for our enemies and pray they come to the knowledge of Christ. If there is any one to be doing any killing let it be God. He has the final say. Thank you for sharing with us.

    • Interesting take on the question Whitney. There are those who I know at one point or another have wished me dead. Hate is a powerful emotion and it is always destructive if we give it place (I have and it is a destroyer). As Christians we are called to love even those who despitefully use us. In my own self I have found that very hard to do. Only with the strength of Christ have I been able to conquer this powerful thing inside me called hatred. I stand on these verses from Romans 12
      Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

      17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

      19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,

      “I will take revenge;
      I will pay them back,”[g]
      says the Lord.
      20 Instead,

      “If your enemies are hungry, feed them.
      If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.
      In doing this, you will heap
      burning coals of shame on their heads.”[h]
      21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
