Evening Meditation 3-4-17

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation[c] and my God. Psalm 42:5

How does the thought strike you from verse 5 that things that inspire praise in life are cyclical?

  1. Life is cyclical, and it’s easy to praise Him in good times–harder to do during cycles of turmoil, but that’s when we most need to do it (whether we view it as a “sacrifice of praise” or whatever). If I can get to the point where I say, “Praise You, Lord, that You are my Emmanuel right here/now as I feel my sanity and life are swirling down the drain; Praise You, that You are still Lord; that You still love me; and that You will not forsake me–You will ‘surely’ bring me through this cycle, and into one of JOY again”…then I will have reached a new level of maturity and intimacy with Him, which will be cause for a great celebration of praise.

  2. When we are hurting Pastor Lillie, God tells us what to do as we see confirmed in the Scripture below and what is more wonderful than to know we are greatly Loved, just Singing the song below brought me inner Joy even though I’m very sad, life can be very hard but always we can rejoice that we are not alone and our Abba Father will work it all for good even if right now we can’t see it.

Philippians 4 ( 8- 9 ) Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”
