Mid Afternoon Meditation 2-26-17

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
The Lord protects them
    and keeps them alive.
He gives them prosperity in the land
and rescues them from their enemies.
The Lord nurses them when they are sick
and restores them to health. Psalm 41:1-3

What are some things that get in the way of being kind to the poor?

    • You are right Bella it is. With me sometimes it is just the feeling of helplessness in the sea of need. Most seasons the need outweighs the ability to provide and that gets in the way definitely. It is then that I find myself truly interceding for the needs because my silver and gold have run out. Again that is a sadder commentary on me than it is on the poor.

      • Yes, that helpless feeling–not enough supply–can be overwhelming, and causes some folks to give up trying to be a help. Was it you who posted the “starfish” story…about the little boy who kept tossing the beached ones back into the sea–even though an observer told him he could never save all of them? And the boy’s response was that his efforts mattered to the ones he did save…I think about that a lot, and keep my ears open to the few “starfish” souls I can help along the way. God is the only Savior, He doesn’t expect us to do His job–but whatever we do, however small it seems to us, it becomes the much-more He can multiply (loaves and fishes)…always better than nothing 🙂 ❤

      • No that wasn’t me but I did read it. And like you I am constantly reminding myself that I am not the Savior I just get to be one of His hands extended and when there is nothing in my hand I can always trust there is enough in someone else’s.
