The godly will possess the land
and will live there forever.
30 The godly offer good counsel;
they teach right from wrong.
31 They have made God’s law their own,
so they will never slip from his path. Psalm 37:29-31

What does it mean to possess the land? That is a great question. Some people think it means this present earth but I don’t want to inherit this sinful earth. I am looking forward to the new heaven and earth when Christ returns. So whenever I read this verse I think about the promises that God told me I will receive while I am alive on this earth. That is my promise land which I will receive.
Good answer Beverly.
I’m thinking “sonship” (or daughter)–the fact that the godly, God’s kids, have a promised inheritance from Him; and part of the inheritance is “God’s law”… maybe?
I think that is part of it but even on a practical side there is this idea that the authority which was taken from our race is being restored by Christ. That authority in the beginning was that Adam and Eve had control over the planet, The animals, the waters, the sky..the everything.
Oh I like that–our authority is being restored–YES!
It is restored in Heaven learning to use it in the here and now has always been the trick.
I agree–I’ve heard a number of messages regarding our Blood-bought authority, and I love “knowing” I have it…but making it work seems to be yet part of my learning process. But I’ll get there, just you wait and see–God has mostly turned my old “destructive stubbornness” into a fierce determination for good 🙂
It does take tenacity.
“Tenacity” is a wonderful word, Pastor J–just rolling it over in my mouth, I feel His Power–much needed, thanks!
