Possessions can be like carved wooden gods–they have no mouth to speak wisdom, no ears to hear my heart’s cries; no power to do anything that I need done; and they can’t love me back…or save me. It’s nice to have a few “things”, but clutching them too tightly will lead to loss of one kind or another… I don’t really understand materialistic people–I was married to one; I wanted only love–he wanted more, more, more possessions.
We do live in the land of mammon.
Truly we do.
