Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

What do you need to do to focus on the unseen things rather than what is seen?
We tend to get bogged down by our trials, tribulations and sufferings. Yet we are told here that those very things are renewing us daily as we are able to identify with Christ’s suffering. James 1 (“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. . . . Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”); Philippians 1 (“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him . . . .”). So instead of despairing, we need to keep in mind that we are being prepared for glory.
