Mid Afternoon Meditation 8-6-16

In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
    It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
    like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
    and makes its circuit to the other;
    nothing is deprived of its warmth.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes. Psalm 18:4-8

These verses make a comparison between the sun and the Bible. Have you ever considered that the Word of God is as essential to your existence as the sun?

Morning Direction From Scripture 8-6-16

The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4

In light of these verses are you using the voice you do have enough to praise God?

Shoutin Saturdays 8-6-16

Shoutin’ Saturdays is one of seven posts here at Lillie-Put dedicated to giving God the shout out He is worthy of.

You know, I am not given to frequent bouts of sadness but for the last couple of hours I have been taking a tumble deep into the pit of despair. I actually googled “Really sad songs that make you cry” on Youtube.

After a bit of that nonsense I dope-slapped myself and asked, “What the heck are you doing?”

So I shut down the really sad songs, prayed and then I began to listen to praise music. As I did, I came across this song that was a perfect echo for the cry of my heart at this moment.

Mid Afternoon Meditation 8-5-16

The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
    Exalted be God my Savior!
47 He is the God who avenges me,
    who subdues nations under me,
48     who saves me from my enemies.
You exalted me above my foes;
    from a violent man you rescued me.
49 Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing the praises of your name.

50 He gives his king great victories;
    he shows unfailing love to his anointed,
    to David and to his descendants forever. Psalm 18:46-50

I am always having to remind myself that God rescues in exactly the right way and at exactly the right time. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes other times victory over circumstances can take years to realize.

Morning Direction From Scripture 8-5-16

2009-07-004

You armed me with strength for battle;
    you humbled my adversaries before me.
40 You made my enemies turn their backs in flight,
    and I destroyed my foes.
41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—
    to the Lord, but he did not answer.
42 I beat them as fine as windblown dust;
    I trampled them[f] like mud in the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people;
    you have made me the head of nations.
People I did not know now serve me,
44     foreigners cower before me;
    as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.
45 They all lose heart;
    they come trembling from their strongholds. Psalm 18:39-45

what do you think is the universal application of this Scripture?
