Morning Direction From Scripture 8-22-16

I am leaving leaving today to lead worship for Special Touch Ministries in the Berkshires. So I am going to move to posting only twice daily ( though I may pop in a few times with candid posts if I have connectivity at the Getaway). Please understand if I don’t get right back to comments. I will be working solely from my smartphone (Which truthfully is a bit smarter than I am).wp-image-95719554jpg.jpg

But you, Lord, do not be far from me.
    You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
20 Deliver me from the sword,
    my precious life from the power of the dogs.
21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;
    save me from the horns of the wild oxen. Psalm 22:19-21

What would God’s rescue look like in any of your current troubles?

Do not be far from me,
    for trouble is near
    and there is no one to help.

12 Many bulls surround me;
    strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
13 Roaring lions that tear their prey
    open their mouths wide against me.
14 I am poured out like water,
    and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart has turned to wax;
    it has melted within me.
15 My mouth[d] is dried up like a potsherd,
    and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
    you lay me in the dust of death.

16 Dogs surround me,
    a pack of villains encircles me;
    they pierce[e] my hands and my feet.
17 All my bones are on display;
    people stare and gloat over me.
18 They divide my clothes among them
    and cast lots for my garment. Psalm 22:11-18

Have you ever felt anything like this? What can God do for you in times like this?

Morning Direction From Scripture 8-20-16

It has been a big week, and this weekend going into next week promises to get even bigger. I am leaving on Monday to lead worship for Special Touch Ministries in the Berkshires. So I am going to move to posting only twice daily ( though I may pop in a few times with candid posts if I have connectivity at the Getaway). Please understand if I don’t get right back to comments. I will be working solely from my smartphone (Which truthfully is a bit smarter than I am).

Yet you brought me out of the womb;
    you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
10 From birth I was cast on you;
    from my mother’s womb you have been my God. Psalm 22 9,10

I did not grow up in a Christian home. My children did. They have grown up from infancy knowing about Jesus. Which experience is closer to your story? Do you wish it had been otherwise?

Faithful Fridays 8-19-16

When I consider  this universe in its scope I catch just a glimpse of a God so incredible my mind cannot contain even the smallest part of who He is. All I can say is He is the Great I Am!

It is Faithful Friday here at Lillie-Put and that means it is time to declare the faithfulness of God to all the world!

But I am a worm and not a man,
    scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All who see me mock me;
    they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
“He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
    “let the Lord rescue him.
Let him deliver him,
    since he delights in him.” Psalm 22: 6-8

Do you see any positive sides to being viewed like this by other people?

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
    you are the one Israel praises.[c]
In you our ancestors put their trust;
    they trusted and you delivered them.
To you they cried out and were saved;
    in you they trusted and were not put to shame.Psalm 22:3-5

The generations before our Psalm writer endured incredible hardship in life. What do you think he means when he says “they trusted and were not put to shame?”
