You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
    and will protect us forever from the wicked,
⁸ who freely strut about
    when what is vile is honored by the human race. Psalm 12:7,8

What does the safety from the Lord look like?

And the words of the Lord are flawless,
    like silver purified in a crucible,
    like gold^[c] refined seven times. Psalm 12:6

What does it mean that the the words of the Lord are like silver purified in a crucible or like gold refined seven times?

And the words of the Lord are flawless,
    like silver purified in a crucible,
    like gold^[c] refined seven times. Psalm 12:6

What does it mean that the words of the Lord are flawless?

Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
    I will now arise,” says the Lord.
    “I will protect them from those who malign them.” Psalm 12:5

God’s heart is with the poor. How much of your heart is invested in being God’s hand to the poor?

ANOTHER RED LETTER DAY

May the Lord silence all flattering lips
    and every boastful tongue—
⁴ those who say,
    “By our tongues we will prevail;
    our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?” Psalm 12:3,4

Do you see a lot of trying to prevail by the power of the tongue? Where? What do you want God’s response to be in these situations?

Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
    those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
² Everyone lies to their neighbor;
    they flatter with their lips
    but harbor deception in their hearts. Psalm 12:1,2

Where does such cynicism come from? How is it best dealt with?

Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
    those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. Psalm 12:1

Do you ever feel alone in your faith? Do you sometimes count yourself among the unfaithful? How do you overcome those feelings?
