Waiting

100_2057

I have prayed

“Even so come.” And yet

I sit here

Silent son

Untranslated, mortal still.

First Born where are you?

Undeterred

I hold faith, refuse

sight, logic

Even sense.

I know this. He will come soon

And find me waiting.

“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Luke 12:35-40

Three Days

by JE Lillie

Day One: Death.

Scratch rejoiced as Christ

Succumbed on

Man’s black cross

Had love lost the day? Night reigned.

Captivity wept.

Day Two: Chained.

Scratch locked Christ in Hell.

His web wound

Bound Christ tight.

Jesus smiled and love woke life

In Hell. Demons shook.

Then He Rose.

Scratch’s keys were lost

Captive hearts

Shouted loud.

As Christ led through the black night

To third day freedom.

C.cada is the artist’s ministry of Cornerstone Church our goal is to help people discover, develop and deploy their God given gifts for the church and for the community.

One Saturday a month our artists take over the church for a day. In the afternoon we host a class to help people discover their latent talents. This month I taught a class on the Shadorma form of poetry. We had four artists in attendance. Here are their works built from two prompts:

Weekly Writing Prompt 17: Prophetic Song For the New Year

It is time to write my last poem of 2015. Using the Secret Keeper’s list of words I am choosing to use the Shadorma form  to sing my way into the 2016.

My necessary words this week are:  | PART | STONE | FLAW | STRICT | NOTE |

Prophetic Song For the New Year

100_1786

by JE Lillie

Still as stone

The old year sounds dead.

Flawed strict notes

Cannot be

Played again. Their parts undone,

I sing a New Year.

Flaws begin

With new notes unheard.

Unrehearsed

Parts falter.

Strict rhythms fall apart like

Water crumbling stones .

A cycle

Then more than a song

Symphony.

Flawed strict notes

My new theme a stone in place

 Part  of larger work.
