Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 35

share-your-world2

Lately I have cut down on my writing so that I can get more reading in. I was feeling sort of depleted in the inspiration department and always rushed to get the next post out. So I am taking a new tac on the waters of the blogging ocean. I am trying to focus on things that gain me inspiration even if that means my “productivity” goes down a little.Quality versus quantity is my new motto and who knows maybe some day I will be able to have both!

All that said I love “Share Your World” so much I just have to keep it as part of my writing routine. Check out Cee and her other contributors at http://www.ceephotography.com/2013/10/07/share-your-world-2013-week-35/

Now onto this week’s questions!

Have you ever bungee jumped?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

I never have bungee jumped, but sure I would give it a try (those who know me well are now being given CPR by their closest loved one). I say “Why not bungee? you only live once. ‘For me to live is Christ and to die is gain’ to quote the apostle!”

Where’s the nearest bridge?

For your computer Mac or Windows-based computer?  Desktop, laptop, Pad or other?

I write from a desktop when I use a computer. I find it keeps me centered on the writing. A fixed location is very important for me to concentrate.

If you were instantly able to play one musical instrument perfectly that you never have played before, what would it be?

I think it would be the guitar. I currently have one sitting in my office but finding the time to practice (and the desire to face the pain of building callouses) is the hard part.

Describe yourself in at least four uplifting words.

Humorous, Faith-filled, Patient,  Discrete.

Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 33

share-your-world2

It seems Monday is becoming my “share your world” night. At least that is for the month of September. I am currently waiting for the guest worship team to show up for tonight’s service ( I am the sound tech for the evening…feel sorry for the band) so I have a few moments to  jot down a few thoughts concerning this week’s awesome questions.

Here they are:

If you could live in any OTHER time, when would it be and why?

Oh this is a hard one. Since I intend to live on now for eternity in the glorified body waiting for me before God’s throne. I suppose I do not need to consider any time in the future because I shall live then and I can patiently wait for those days. So as I look to the past I think I would greatly love to live in Jerusalem during the days of Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection, ascension and the beginning of His church. I would like to be one of the first Gentiles to sign on for the trip!

If you were given a yacht today, what would you name it?

The Lillie-Pad of course. A home that floats on the water. 🙂

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)

I was going to say clear and calm up until about 5 minutes ago. Now we have sudden high winds with the potential of toppling trees.

List at least two things in nature do you find most beautiful?

I love the changing of the seasons and I truly love waterfalls.

While this concludes my answers Cee’s other contributors are chiming in at this very moment at http://www.ceephotography.com/2013/09/23/share-your-world-2013-week-33/ . Go ahead and check them out.

Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 32

share-your-world2Can you believe it’s week 32 of Share Your World 2013? Only 20 weeks left until we begin Share Your World 2014.  Ok…Ok… before we frighten ourselves right out of blogging let’s just focus on the week we are on shall we? Please check out Cee’s other contributors at http://www.ceephotography.com/2013/09/16/share-your-world-2013-week-32/

Here are my answers:

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

I would like to be a giant sequoia. This largest of trees only stands because it intertwines its roots with other sequoias and so is upheld most powerfully in community!

If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why?

I would be two scoops of Rocky Road.Because I love chocolate nuts and marshmallows but too much of a good thing is just too much. Two scoops is more than enough.

What type of pets do you have or want?

I have two Maltese dogs and a puppy I am preparing for the mission field right now.

Where do you hide junk when people come over?

We don’t hide junk. People must take us as we are.

Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 31

share-your-world2

This week Cee has asked some really fun questions and I hope I can do them justice in the few minutes I have before prayer meeting. If you would like to see how others have answered go to http://www.ceephotography.com/2013/09/09/share-your-world-2013-week-31/

Do you push the elevator button more than once and do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?

I always push the button at least twice and the second time is more of a pulse tap so it technically qualifies as five or six hits. I am convinced that this is how you get the elevator to move at light speed. Oh dancing in the elevator also makes it move faster in case you were wondering.

If you had the choice between an RV, a sports car, truck, SUV, or a bicycle, which would you choose and why?

This week it would be an RV. I think I would hit the road for a nice road trip.

If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?

Zerubbabel. I have always liked that name. 🙂 You could call me Zeb for short. I am pretty sure my son would not like this name though. it has been tough enough being Joseph Elon VI. Can you imagine being Zerubbabel Elon VI?

Is it more important to love or be loved?

Oh boy! There are all kinds of scriptural connotations with this question. Love is a commitment we are all called to make and true love is presupposed with a reward of love returned from the Source of Love. When we love we get love from the Source of Love even if not directly from the one (s) we are loving. So I would say loving is more important because it is in loving that we discover we are loved.

A Little Too Busy

I was doing my bills the other night and had just finished up with the portion that I needed to pay. Since this was the batch I don’t do electronically I had tucked them safely into their envelopes, affixed stamps and return addresses to the outside and headed them off to the mailbox. The curtains were drawn for the night (it being well into the evening); So I thought to myself “I will just put them out in the morning.”  Then I promptly threw them into the wood stove. You heard me correctly into the wood stove.

The worst part of it is the next morning when I got up and began looking for the bills I could not find them anywhere.

I kept telling my loved ones, “I put them right here on top of the wood stove.”

That’s when my daughter (bless her heart) decided to look in the wood stove. I was chuckling at the insanity of the idea until…

I guess I can be happy  it’s not burning season.

I think I may be getting just a little too busy. What do you think?

PARTY ON

Coach Me If You Can

I have been away these last three days at a training with life coach Sam Farina. This is the second training I have been to with him and bit by little bit I am pressing towards my certification as a life coach with the Assemblies of God. This is just one of the areas God is expanding in me.  Let me tell you I am feeling a little stretched. This training was intense and I came back with a boat load of take aways:

The team I worked with from NNED

Our team (called 4 good) made this code of conduct.

Our team (called 4 good) made this code of conduct. Number 7 was our most important rule.

Team building excercise

Team building excercise. Team Epic (Pastor Brad’s team)

Take aways:

* A renewed understanding of how important it is for our local church to be a team. Teams succeed where groups fail.

* Groups can never achieve what teams can because they never achieve cohesive vision or direction.

* In a team:

Everyone involved is involved

There is synergy

Each member knows and depends on the other team members strengths

There is collaboration

There is acceptance and respect for each member’s role

are goal focused

active listening is practiced by all members

members take ownership not just responsibility

members embrace change for the sake of the team

everyone celebrates wins and everyone shoulders the blame for losses (there is no finger-pointing)

there is a leader

teams gather around weakened members and willingly cover for them as they bring the weakened member back to strength.

* “Great leaders don’t overcome fear they practice courage.” Sam Farina

* I think my biggest take away came with this quote though. ” Don’t try to cure weakness. Just stop planning around it. Plan around your team’s strengths.”

Which characteristic of teams speaks loudest to you? Are there any I missed?

Puppies!

Many of you have asked to be kept up to date on the state of the puppies. Well, they were born a week ago. Three boys if I am right about things. Mother and babes are doing just fine!
