I love this phrase – a dance of two armies. Isn’t that life?

We are in the center of a conflict of two worlds.

Peter cautions us:

Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. – 1 Peter 2:11

And Paul tells us:

For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, – Romans 8:6-7

So we know this war rages.

But what is our part in this conflict between two worlds?

God commands us to forgive and so we must forgive.

How many times do we say the words yet our hearts are not quite ready to forgive? I always thought if I said it then one day I would truly believe it in my heart. Well, for this girl no such luck there were still things I needed to forgive. I didn’t realize I was holding on to unforgiveness until someone pointed it out to me and, oh boy, was that a big ouch.

No matter who we are, what we do, when or where we do it, we are either making progress, stagnating or moving forward.  In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul compares moving forward to an athlete preparing for a competition.  Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize?  So run to win!  All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.  So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadow-boxing.  I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.  Otherwise, I fear that…

Billy Graham wrote a wonderful devotional regarding faith vs. fact… If you are saved, you are saved through a personal faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as defined in Scripture.  Though many may see this as too dogmatic or narrow-minded to many, the fact remains that there is no other way.  I Corinthians 15:1, 3,4 states, Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before.  I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.  He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
