You Can Run,…

Stop running. Rest in His arms as you take responsibility.

Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the LORD (Jeremiah 23:24).

How many times in you life have you thought, said, or done something that you were ashamed of?  If you’re honest with yourself, probably more times than you can count.  Now, add in those times where you didn’t do something that you should have.  If you’re like me, that list gets uncomfortably long.  So, how do we live with these times?  A character in a series of thriller/action novels that I like to read notes that in each decision, we always have two choices; to think or not to think, to speak nor not to speak, or to do or not do.  Once  you’ve made that decision, you then have a similar two-choice decision to make.  Will I say this or that?  Will I think this or…

Share You World- 2015 Week #14

share-your-world2

So I just learned how to do this and really hope it works… It is time to once again answer Cee’s Sharable questions for the week. To see how others answered these 5 questions click the Share You World logo above and go to Cee’s site!

Here are the questions and my answers!

What type of music relaxes you the most or do you prefer silence?

Right now I am working in silence, but often I like to play classical music or light Celtic music to get the juices flowing. It really depends on my mental frame and what I have to do at the moment in questions. If I am highly stressed I need quiet to get myself calm enough to work. But if I am bored or feeling distracted music helps me to center and get calm and focused on the task at hand. If I am really stressed and can get away I like to bask in music and do nothing but float on the sound.

Now this is a really hard one. I have thousands of photos in my archive and to just pick two seems almost impossible. I like this photo because it is a great memory of a wonderful vacation with my kids. We don’t all get together that often anymore So those times when we can all gather are very special.

I love this shot taken on Galway Bay. I was alone and walking along the road as the sun set over the waters. I remember being very tired and in quite a bit of pain but this sunset was like a gift from God letting me see the beauty in life again.

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

I love Sunday morning church. I think it is a very healthy habit we have lost in much of our culture. But my favorite service is when Christmas falls on a Sunday. The service may only be an hour-long but something in the act of going to church on Christmas Day restores the whole meaning to the holiday. It feels profoundly spiritual.

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself?  Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 50?

I would tell myself to stand up for yourself more. Don’t be afraid of an argument and for goodness sake let yourself feel and express emotions. Laugh more. Cry more. Get angry more. People might be more put out with you but eventually all your attempts to keep things pleasant for those around you by “keeping the peace” will fail anyway.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful my daughter and son-in-law have found a lovely apartment. I am looking forward to this week being a little quieter than Easter week.

Life’s a Blur

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Blur.”

This week the Daily Post has told us to find the blurry images in our collection.

Use the link above (blue blur) to see how others blurred the edges of life a little. Here are mine:

The Endless Love

A thought for Good Friday.

debbestillandlisten's avatarDebBe Still and Listen

Do you know what was done for you today?

The Endless Love

  In the stillness…. listen
He’s calling
He’s calling you

You need an ear to hear
He whispers
Can you hear Him?

Tempted like you and me
Yet sinless
White as snow

His body broken
His blood shed
Take…. eat….drink

His endless love
Sealed with the cross
Forever loved!

Oh, how He loves!
Oh, how He loves!
You and me ! ! !

Living Life In the 10’s and 20’s

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Tagline.”

Today the Daily post has asked, Often, our blogs have taglines. But what if humans did, too? What would your tagline be?

My tag line would be

“living life in the 10’s and 20’s”

A few years ago God began speaking to me, through my prayer time, about becoming more “slow, constant and intentional”. I have to admit I was sort of at a loss as to the method of accomplishing that.  At the time my life could have been described as busy in fits and starts while being consumed by a cloud of mess that seemed to follow me everywhere.

But God never gives us a command He won’t give us the power to obey. In prayer the idea to change how I structured my day planner was downloaded into my wee brain.

If you look at my schedule now  you will see that each day is  scheduled around 3 times of prayer and study and headed up by a list that looks like this

20-20-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-6

That stands for

20 minutes of exercise

20 minutes of rest (yes I schedule a nap everyday)

10 minutes of indoor housecleaning

10 minutes of outdoor work

10 minutes of finances

10 minutes of writing

10 pages of reading

10 blogs to be read and commented on

10 pastoral or leadership connections

10 minutes of office cleaning

and

6 family connections ( I am working my way up to 10 a day)

I don’t always make every goal but I make more of them daily because I schedule them as priorities. This is living life in the 10’s and 20’s
