Pink On Family and National Morality

Here is the answer. No election will rescue us.

I came across this quote from Arthur Pink today and thought it was worth sharing, particularly in light of the alarmist things I encounter in my social media feeds on a daily basis lately. It’s easy to find folks to blame for the problems in our nation. Folks post their outrage on social media, flock to politicians peddling easy answers, demand laws that will straighten up the world we live in, and pine for God to set things right. The problem with these solutions is that they are top-down fixes to a bottom-up problem. Decline and decay start in our own homes and churches. We must address our own messes before looking to those of others. In the 2 millennia since its birth, Christianity has changed the world, not through legislation and power, but through discipleship and devotion to the cause of Jesus. Fathers, follow Jesus and grow spiritually. Then, spend…

Evening Meditation 5-30-16

cropped-wpid-img_20151026_004832.jpg

My enemies cannot speak a truthful word.
Their deepest desire is to destroy others.
Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave.
Their tongues are filled with flattery.[a]
10 O God, declare them guilty.
Let them be caught in their own traps.
Drive them away because of their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you. Psalm 5:9-10

Do you have any enemies? What makes them enemies? Does God declare them guilty or just you?

Lost in the Cost

This is Ken’s new blog. GIVE it a read through. 🙂

My wife and I are in the process of doing some renovations on our house.  I’m getting a little too old and creaky to do things like climbing up on the roof, so we are looking for a construction company to come in and do the work.  We’ll probably get more than one estimate.  When we get it, we will have to decide whether the work is worth the price.  But, if the work is important enough to us, we have to be careful not to get lost in the cost.  If we wait until later, there may be more damage to the house, the amount of work will increase, and so will the overall cost.  So sometimes it pays to spend your money wisely and just get the work done.

In the Storm

These are some great thoughts from Deb.

In the Storm

Even when my heart seems like it is breaking in two I will praise His name!

I am grateful my God is BIGGER than my circumstance, Amen!!!

My worship leader gave a devotion the other night that spoke to my heart and God knew that’s exactly what I needed to hear.  I am grateful for my brothers and sisters in Christ that no matter what is going on in my life spoken or unspoken they lift me up in prayer and isn’t that what we are supposed to do.  My worship team is my small group and they are my Aaron and Hur!  I pray that everyone has an Aaron and a Hur in their life because we really need them, Amen!

Exodus 17:12
Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then…

Evening Meditation 5-13-16

cropped-wpid-img_20151026_004832.jpg

Here is what I am wondering tonight.

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. 1 Cor. 13:1-8

In just a few words tell me, what does it mean to stop being self-seeking?

Reblogged From God’s Little Acre,

COME AS YOU ARE

I shook my head in disbelief. This couldn’t be the right place. After all, I couldn’t possibly be welcome here. I had been given an invitation several times, by several different people, and I had finally decided to see what this place was all about. But, this just couldn’t be the right place. Quickly, I glanced down at the invitation that I clutched in my hand. I scanned past the words, “Come as you are. No jacket required,” and found the location. Yes, I was at the right place.
I peered through the window again and saw a room of people whose faces seemed to glow with joy. All were neatly dressed, adorned in fine garments and appeared strangely clean as they dined…

30 PLUS 1 DAYS OF PRAISE:Sacred Sundays 5-1-16

As we begin the month of May it is time to magnify or build up the name of Jesus. I would like to challenge all my readers to 30 and one days of praise! Everyday for the next month find a praise song and post it on your blog or Facebook account. Let’s light up the blogosphere with praises to Christ! Who will join me?

Sacred Sundays is one of seven weekly posts at Lillie-Put dedicated to raising the praise of Jesus across the blogosphere. Usually with this particular post I try to pull from Christian music’s older traditions.

Today I am offering a hymnal mash up ministered by Centric Worship

Add your own hymn of the faith in the comments section below.

Are you sitting down?

Because I’ve got some news.

OK, maybe I’m building it up a little much. #guilty

The essay — optional. Calculators — banned for parts of it. Vocabulary — less obscure and more “workplace-oriented”…whatever that means. And lastly….it’s going to be offered digitally

I know. I’ll wait while you collect yourself.

I have a very sad feeling that #2 pencils are slowly becoming extinct.

*sigh*

So, I have a confession. I am clearly not in high school. I am a twenty something New Yorker. I don’t own a snapchat. I’ve worn a croptop all of 2 times. And (spoiler alert) I don’t “FeelTheBern.” So, in an effort to stay relevant with the youths of today, I do a little recon work.

I know. I am so cool.
