Slow Burn

Thousand year silence.
Slowness meets swift disaster.
A mountains fury.

This post is created in response to Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge #322 using the words CUP AND SIP.
The cup of joy flows
A soft petal sun beaming
for hearts that sip deep.
The cup of wrath boils
Mercurial in the sky
for hearts that sip deep.

The Tidal Surge
by J. Lillie
The Sea sends its waves
As tomorrow’s tidal surge
On today’s bleak shores.

ALTERNATE CHALLENGE:
ENDLESS HEART
by J. Lillie
My friend says reality is killing him:Covid-19, lay-offs, election cycles, family stress, overdue bills, black lives matter and white man’s privlege, Democrats, Republicans and the scraps of whatever is left between them. It’s all too much for one man’s mind to fathom never mind survive.
The land’s enshrouded.
Darkness reigns for the moment
But the sun will burn through.
I tell my friend that Reality doesn’t kill. Reality brings life: love, joy, peace, long- suffering, gentleness, kindness, faith, meekness and self control. Surely sin has bent our perception of what is and made it everything that is not real. Reality is the kingdom of God within us.
Eternity dwells
In jars made of weak clay, so
Endless heart live on.
Waiting eyes watch skies,
Filled with summer’s thick glory,
Certain times will change.

KISS THE WHEAT
by J. Lillie
The sun will soon meet
In the lap of the garden.
Setting fields ablaze.
Wheat and tares will burn.
Parted at last in harvest
Sun-kissed wheat will heal.

THE SIGHT WITHIN
by J.LILLIE
Everyone says it’s going to be all right. We’ll soon be back to normal…or at least a new normal. My soul sees something different. It ministers in images, like the old man sitting on the corner by the Cumberland Farms, mask down, waiting, just waiting for someone with “the bug” to walk by and breathe on him.
The light is fading.
It splashes across the sky
Beautiful dying.
BID THE EARTH REST
Sit low in the sky.
Rest your head on Earth’s green breast.
Bid her rest the night.
What says the prophet?
Small things matter in grand schemes.
Strength will pollinate.
Distractions
by J. Lillie
A million voices
Cross the lines, block the clouds of
Beauty’s calls to me.
