Share Your World 2016 Week 10

We just crossed into double digits with SYW 2016 can you believe it? Only 42 more weeks to go until 2017. Click the underlined link to be transported to a great sharing space at Cee’s Blog.

This week Cee has asked us five sharing questions and given us a warning. The warning is

With your answers, please remember we are in the SYW world  which may not always match our reality.

The questions are:

What would you ask for if a genie granted you three wishes?

I think I would ask the genie to make me strong enough to cover all the bases that need covering in my section of the human sea of need. I do realize however that genies are quite literal and I would probably be given a huge baseball diamond in the middle of an ocean along with super speed so that I could run on top of the water and thereby cover all the bases. I think I will just continue to ask God for the strength. He gets the metaphor.

What experiences are most meaningful to you?

I love our times around the altar of the church. There is nothing like being in the presence of God.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a young child I wanted to be a zoo keeper, a naturalist, an ornithologist or something else that would keep me near animals and the natural world. From the eighth grade on though I pretty much knew I was going to be a pastor. It was an innate sense I guess you could say…a calling I couldn’t deny.

Complete this sentence:  The best day of my life was….

the day I received Jesus as Savior and Lord. The second best day was the day I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful that our lead pastor, Pastor Risto was back to lead staff meeting last week. He had been away and then had Network staff meetings in Sturbridge . So I was running meetings for a few weeks.  This week I am looking forward to ministering in two concerts.

Share Your World 2016 Week #9

It’s past time for me to share-your-world2

Every week Cee invites her contributors to SHARE BITS OF THEIR LIVES.

You can discover how the rest of the world is sharing by clicking the underlined link. Here are the questions we are all answering along with my answers.

Have you done something you truly want to do today?

I get to do lots of things I want to do everyday. I love my job of pastoring and while there are pieces of it that get pushed to the back burner because of the craziness of everyday life I do really enjoy it all. Today is a day of office cleaning and administrating . I am finally getting to organize my desk and my office and that feels really good! Currently it looks like my desk blew up and that makes me sad.

What can you help the world with?

I believe I am called to help the world by bringing them to the knowledge of God.

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?

I would be a kiwi. Sweet, fuzzy and a little odd.

Quotes List: At least three of your favorite quotes?

I have so many favorite quotes narrowing it down to three is really hard, but I shall try. Here are three quotes on joy I really like shared by my friend and fellow artist Betty Knowlton:

  • What a witness to the world Christians would be, if only we were evidently very happy people
  • .100_1084
  • Our sense of joy, satisfaction and fulfillment in life increases, no matter what the circumstances, if we are in the center of God’s will.
  • 100_1786
  • Joy is NOT the absence of trouble, but the presence of God.
  • 100_1806

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so grateful that last week I got to preach at Cornerstone and that four people came to Jesus. This next week I am looking forward to leading worship at Cornerstone!

Share Your World 2016 Week#8

share-your-world2

It is time to SHARE MY WORLD WITH YOU AGAIN. That capitalized link will get you into a whole world of learning how to share your world and a ton of examples about how to do it from Cee’s many subscribers. But before you go, here are the weekly questions from Cee and my shares concerning them.

What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I am decidedly not a big fan of raking or weeding the garden beds. I am OK if my lawn and gardens will not make the next issue of Better Homes and Gardens.

What was the last URL that you bookmarked?

You Tube Buffalo Herd: Our Riches At Christ’s Expense

Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?

My neck and my shoulders are telling me, “You need a neck massage.”

Would you rather have a two-bedroom apartment in a big city of your choosing or a mansion in the country side in the state or country where you currently live?

Can the mansion be a three bedroom log cabin in the countryside? If so I’ll take that.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for a wonderful team of church staff, and visiting lay ministers who helped with the incredible amount of ministry our church did last week.

This week I am looking forward to visiting with my daughter Melanie and her husband James who are up in Winchendon with me for their vacation.

share-your-world2

Wow! We are already 7 weeks into 2016. That means by the end of this week we will be 13.42465753% finished the year. Freaky! It also means we will have answered 35 questions on SHARE YOUR WORLD and that we are only 310 days  away from Christmas. We have 44 Sundays left until Christmas Sunday!

Here are this week’s questions and my answers. Cee’s other contributors can be found by clicking the capitalized link above.

What are you a “natural” at doing?

I am a natural musician. I love music and I tend to turn every life event into a song. In high school I was voted most likely to be found singing a hymn.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

A one floor house and that becomes truer as I get older.

What was your favorite subject in school?

English and music were my favorite subjects in school but I also loved history. Math I wouldn’t have missed.

Complete this sentence: If only the rain..

…fell at night when I was sleeping and everyday was sunny.

My Daily Walks 2-12 &2-13

I have missed my daily walk these  last two days. The busyness of the schedule  and the severe cold have given me excuses to stay far away from walking. Here is what  I did instead.

My friend Jody and I went to the travel agency to begin planning our trip to Japan and Korea.

Where  we will visit the kid in green.

Today I led worship before Deb Maciorowski preached  at Special Touch.

And I registered for next month’s  bowl-athon. My team is called Gutters for Jesus. Maybe I’ll  make up the exercise then.

Share Your World 2016 Week# 6

It’s time to open up and share with Cee again. Check out SHARE YOUR WORLD BY CLICKING HERE. It is an awesome site.

Generally contributors are asked five questions and our answers help us share our lives with the blogosphere. This week we get to share double thanks to  The Happy Quitter Blog

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

What is your favorite word?

I really love words. Some of my favorites are lullaby, mystical and loquacious. The word I use the most is probably Groovy

What is your least favorite word?

This is actually a pretty hard question. I am not a big fan of the word bombastic.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Being in the presence of God through prayer, worship or study of the Scripture really gets me going. Writing and reading also really trigger something deep inside.

What turns you off?

Complaining and criticism that is not thought out.

What is your favorite curse word?

I don’t curse. Maybe “darn” or “shucks” or “bummer dude”.

What sound or noise do you love?

I love the sound of the ocean waves or a waterfall. I love birdsong.

What sound or noise do you hate?

Incessant prattle and mean-spirited banter.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I have tried many professions and I am very content with being a minister.

What profession would you not like to do?

Construction.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

“Well done Thou good and faithful servant enter into the joy of the Lord!”

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so happy to have gotten some walls painted in our upstairs hallway during my vacation. I am looking forward to our concert at the Lifeskills program this week.

My Tie Resolution

image

I have to admit I am not very fashion conscious. I tend to throw clothes on and as long as all the essential bits are covered I really don’t think much more about it.
One of the things about being a pastor as well as a dad is that over the years I have gathered quite a  collection of ties.
This year I made a resolution I would wear every single tie I own at least once before the year is out.
Here are the ties I wore in January. How’s that for life  change?
