Share Your World 2016 Week #7

share-your-world2

Wow! We are already 7 weeks into 2016. That means by the end of this week we will be 13.42465753% finished the year. Freaky! It also means we will have answered 35 questions on SHARE YOUR WORLD and that we are only 310 days  away from Christmas. We have 44 Sundays left until Christmas Sunday!

Here are this week’s questions and my answers. Cee’s other contributors can be found by clicking the capitalized link above.

What are you a “natural” at doing?

I am a natural musician. I love music and I tend to turn every life event into a song. In high school I was voted most likely to be found singing a hymn.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

A one floor house and that becomes truer as I get older.

What was your favorite subject in school?

English and music were my favorite subjects in school but I also loved history. Math I wouldn’t have missed.

Complete this sentence: If only the rain..

…fell at night when I was sleeping and everyday was sunny.

My Daily Walks 2-12 &2-13

I have missed my daily walk these  last two days. The busyness of the schedule  and the severe cold have given me excuses to stay far away from walking. Here is what  I did instead.

My friend Jody and I went to the travel agency to begin planning our trip to Japan and Korea.

Today I led worship before Deb Maciorowski preached  at Special Touch.

And I registered for next month’s  bowl-athon. My team is called Gutters for Jesus. Maybe I’ll  make up the exercise then.

Share Your World 2016 Week# 6

It’s time to open up and share with Cee again. Check out SHARE YOUR WORLD BY CLICKING HERE. It is an awesome site.

Generally contributors are asked five questions and our answers help us share our lives with the blogosphere. This week we get to share double thanks to  The Happy Quitter Blog

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

What is your favorite word?

I really love words. Some of my favorites are lullaby, mystical and loquacious. The word I use the most is probably Groovy

What is your least favorite word?

This is actually a pretty hard question. I am not a big fan of the word bombastic.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Being in the presence of God through prayer, worship or study of the Scripture really gets me going. Writing and reading also really trigger something deep inside.

What turns you off?

Complaining and criticism that is not thought out.

What is your favorite curse word?

I don’t curse. Maybe “darn” or “shucks” or “bummer dude”.

What sound or noise do you love?

I love the sound of the ocean waves or a waterfall. I love birdsong.

What sound or noise do you hate?

Incessant prattle and mean-spirited banter.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I have tried many professions and I am very content with being a minister.

What profession would you not like to do?

Construction.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

“Well done Thou good and faithful servant enter into the joy of the Lord!”

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am so happy to have gotten some walls painted in our upstairs hallway during my vacation. I am looking forward to our concert at the Lifeskills program this week.

My Tie Resolution

image

I have to admit I am not very fashion conscious. I tend to throw clothes on and as long as all the essential bits are covered I really don’t think much more about it.
One of the things about being a pastor as well as a dad is that over the years I have gathered quite a  collection of ties.
This year I made a resolution I would wear every single tie I own at least once before the year is out.
Here are the ties I wore in January. How’s that for life  change?

Share Your World 2016 Week 5

I am a bit late this week (with next week starting tomorrow and all), but late or not I didn’t want to miss a chance to SHARE MY WORLD.

Cee’s five questions and my answers are below. If you would like to see how others answered the questions or if you would like to join in the fun you can do so by clicking the underlined link above.

CEE’S QUESTIONS & MY ANSWERS

share-your-world2

If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronic devices and things stored on them, people or animals), what would you put on it?

My shelf would contain my family tree, the current journal I am writing in and my Bible. Past, present and future.

If you had a box labelled ‘happiness’, what would you put in it?

I guess I would start with two questions: How big is the box? Can you only put material things in it?

If the answers are “a small box and yes”, then I would put a picture of Jesus, a picture of my family and two 3×5 cards. One  3×5 card would say “Be content with what you have and where you are.”. The other would say, “Remember only relationships last into eternity.”

If the answers are ” the size of the Universe and no you can put immaterial things in the box too”, then I would put God in the box remembering that the box would still not be big enough to contain Him. The Psalmist wrote, “In Thy presence (O Lord) is fullness of joy.”

What do you want more of in your life?

God, His presence and love.

Daily Life List: What do you do on an average day? Make a list of your usual activities you do each day.

I generally get up between 5 and 6 to walk the dogs. I pray and study Scripture. I get ready for work and then I head off. Most mornings I do a bit of paper work until morning prayer meeting. After an hour of prayer I usually have meetings until 11 or lunch time. In the afternoon I do paperwork, write and usually once a week I am out doing a service at a nursing home or dayhab. Sometimes I throw in the occasional meeting. I go home for 3 and walk the dogs. I usually rest for a bit and try to get something done around the house before I return to the church. Most evenings I have a meeting followed by a rehearsal or a service and then I head home for 8 walk the dogs, eat supper and watch a little television to unwind before bed.

On days off I try to do as little as possible.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am mindful that I am a week behind so I will share one things from this vacation week that was special and do the same next week. I am grateful that I got to watch the sunrise at Ogungquit Beach, Maine. It has been years since I did that. Next week I am looking forward to getting back into the routine of work. Here are some shots of the Beach.

This week I got to watch the sunrise at Ogungquit Beach, Maine. It has been months since I had a break away like this. It was truly relaxing. If it had not been so cold I might have played in the surf with the gulls.

Share Your World 2016 Week #4

share-your-world2

It’s time once again to SHARE YOUR WORLD.  Every week our hostess, Cee, poses five questions, which her contributors answer. In that way we all come to know a little bit more about each other’s worlds.

Here are the questions and my answers:

What one thing are you really glad you did yesterday?

I am really glad that I got a jump on Good Friday and Easter music. I know it isn’t until March but that time is really going to fly.

Are you generally focused on today or tomorrow?

I try to plan about six months ahead so I can actually focus on today. Some days it works better than others.

Would you want a guardian angel/mentor? What would they tell you right now?

I believe I have a guardian angel, but he is not my mentor. My mentor is the Holy Spirit and He has been speaking to me lately about walking in authority and not worrying so much about pleasing people.

Would you rather live in a cave house or a dome house made out of glass? (photos of the houses found on google search). I really really like the cave house. I am not much of a fan of houses you can see through. I like to hide in my home.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful to have accomplished all my concerts for the month last week. I enjoy them but it is nice to have a few weeks off between events. I am also glad I found someone to take over one of the monthly worship concerts I do. This creates room for growth.

This next week I am looking forward to taking a much needed break. I will spend a few days in Maine!
