Peace Post-48

“When I lay these questions before God I get no answer. But a rather special sort of ‘No answer.’ It is not the locked door. It is more like a silent, certainly not uncompassionate, gaze. As though He shook His head not in refusal but waiving the question. Like, ‘Peace, child; you don’t understand.”

RONOVAN WRITES WEEKLY HAIKU CHALLENGE EYE AND LIGHT

This post is created in response to RONOVAN’S WEEKLY HAIKU CHALLENGE #317 REGARDING EYE AND LIGHT.

THE SIGHT WITHIN

by J.LILLIE

Everyone says it’s going to be all right. We’ll soon be back to normal…or at least a new normal. My soul sees something different. It ministers in images, like the old man sitting on the corner by the Cumberland Farms, mask down, waiting, just waiting for someone with “the bug” to walk by and breathe on him.

The light is fading.

It splashes across the sky

Beautiful dying.

Mid Afternoon Meditation 8-8-20

Psalm 138

Of David.

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
    before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
    and will praise your name
    for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree
    that it surpasses your fame.
When I called, you answered me;
    you greatly emboldened me.

May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
    when they hear what you have decreed.
May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
    for the glory of the Lord is great.

Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
    though lofty, he sees them from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
    you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
    with your right hand you save me.
The Lord will vindicate me;
    your love, Lord, endures forever—
    do not abandon the works of your hands.

What does praise with all your heart sound like?

2020 Home Photo Challenge 8-8-20

THIS YEAR I AM GIVING MYSELF A CHALLENGE! ONE PHOTO EVERYDAY TAKEN FROM MY HOME. IF YOU WANT TO JOIN JUST TAKE A PHOTO IN OR AROUND YOUR HOME AND WRITE YOUR OWN BLOG AND POST THE LINK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW IT.

I missed the 2020 home photo challenge yesterday. To be fair it was a pretty crazy day. That said the one thing I’ve learned through this pandemic is an appreciation of my home. With all the projects still to do and all the years of memories stored within this old place, I don’t think I will ever get bored. I think there are more pictures here on this little quarter acre than I will ever be able to take.

MIDNIGHT MEDITATION 8-8-20

Psalm 137

By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
    when we remembered Zion.
There on the poplars
    we hung our harps,
for there our captors asked us for songs,
    our tormentors demanded songs of joy;
    they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

How can we sing the songs of the Lord
    while in a foreign land?
If I forget you, Jerusalem,
    may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
    if I do not remember you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem
    my highest joy.

Remember, Lord, what the Edomites did
    on the day Jerusalem fell.
“Tear it down,” they cried,
    “tear it down to its foundations!”
Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,
    happy is the one who repays you
    according to what you have done to us.
Happy is the one who seizes your infants
    and dashes them against the rocks.

Is there anywhere we can not praise God?
