Mid Afternoon Meditation 9-15-17

Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings
    to fulfill the vows I made to you—
14 yes, the sacred vows that I made
    when I was in deep trouble.
15 That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you—
    the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma,
    and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats. Interlude

16 Come and listen, all you who fear God,
    and I will tell you what he did for me.
17 For I cried out to him for help,
    praising him as I spoke.
18 If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
    the Lord would not have listened.
19 But God did listen!
    He paid attention to my prayer.
20 Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer
    or withdraw his unfailing love from me.

Psalm 66:13-20

What are your prayers like when you are in deep trouble?

Generation Gap

Generation Gap

I forget, sometimes, the ocean between us when we stand close together, the language barrier when we talk for hours thinking we understand each other.

That you expect the world to serve up justice and equity, while I’m content with my morning eggs and toast and a clucking of the tongue at the morning paper, seems a minor difference, until you start to raging at the machine expecting answers. You see, I get it that machines can’t talk and never could. I stopped expecting to understand why a long time ago.You still want to know everything and think you can.

That just makes you mad and me a little sad, but still we regard each other from our separate orbits, thinking that somehow we are the same.

Blood is thicker than water except when the cumidin is introduced. Then it’s just the same, except different, and it doesn’t hold things together anymore. And so we are.

I am the cliffs and oceans banging together all, craggy and barely pieced together now. You are the southern  wind and summer solstice, always bright and light.

Real and hopeful, two sides of the same coin, never seeing eye to eye.

Which is the more enduring? The cliffs will turn to dust and the oceans run dry while light and breath remain. I will go on into the generation gap and hope you don’t follow.

Bless our God, O peoples;
    let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living
    and has not let our feet slip.
10 For you, O God, have tested us;
    you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into the net;
    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. Psalm 66:8-12

What needs to change in your estimation in order for you to walk in abundance?

Share Your World Sept. 11, 2017

share-your-world2

Well it is not Sept. 11. But I know that Cee doesn’t care what day we choose to Share Our Worlds as long as we share. Sept. 11 was a Monday and Monday is now my day off. My new boss has completely banned me from the church building and has told the congregation not to call me on that day. I love that guy!

I have been spending the last few Mondays doing absolutely nothing! Do you know how long it has been since I had twenty four to thirty six hours where I had no expectations? I think I remember a day sometime in the late 90’s when that happened!

Anyway it is time to share Cee’s questions and my answers. If you want to expand the sharing go to THIS LINK.

Here are the questions.

Would you want $200,000 right now or $250,000 in a year? It’s safe to assume all money is tax free.

I think thereis a general concensus among us all that we would take the $200,000.00 RIGHT NOW PLEASE! No one has a guarantee of tomorrow. Besides I need a new chimney, a new woodstove, a new roof and a new kitchen and adjoining bathroom RIGHT NOW PLEASE!

Is it more important to love or be loved?

Love attracts. Loving also opens the doors of our heart to receive love. We cannot be loved if we are not open to loving. So loving and being loved are intrinsically linked. If we will love, we will be loved and be able to receive love. If we wait to give love then we shall not feel loved even if we are loved because we will not be open to the possibility.

List things that represent abundance to you.

This was actually one of the questions from my meditation this week on Lillie-Put. I loved the answer that Ali gave.

“To me, abundance is when I feel God’s hand on me and he fills me with joy regardless of the circumstances. It is communion and intimacy with God, whereby we experience a taste of heaven 🙂”

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

My boy inspired me this week in two wonderful phone calls in which we discussed the state of the world and the nature of morality and the life of dogs.

Do you think you and God have the same definition of abundance? If not how do the two views differ?
