Evening Meditation 6-27-17

IMG_20170601_212426_573

O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel,
wake up and punish those hostile nations.
Show no mercy to wicked traitors. Interlude

They come out at night,
    snarling like vicious dogs
    as they prowl the streets.
Listen to the filth that comes from their mouths;
    their words cut like swords.
“After all, who can hear us?” they sneer.
But Lord, you laugh at them.
You scoff at all the hostile nations.
You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me,
for you, O God, are my fortress.
10 In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me.
He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies. Psalm 59:5-11

Describe what it feels like to know God is standing with you.

Well this week Cee has asked some really great questions about goals. If you want to see how others have answered Cee’s SHARING QUESTIONS  please click this link and it will take you directly to the challenge site.

Here are the questions and my answers:

What goal are you working on now? Your goal can be something fun or extremely serious.  Have fun with this question.

Right now I have two goals I am working on.

Goal 1 is to help our interim pastor, Tim Moen, facilitate the church and make it ready for the next lead pastor.

Goal 2 is to finish my book.

What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?

There are some things that I have tried and really enjoyed, but would never do again simply because I do not believe I will ever be in a position to do them again. Being a father to teen-agers is an example of one of those things. I loved the teen years with my kids.  There’s at least a hundred other things but I won’t bore you with them here.

Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?

This is a very insightful question. Ministry is a calling from God. I remember the day I stood at an altar and heard His voice telling me He wanted me to minister for Him.

Have you ever gotten lost?

I have gotten lost many times. I find if you just keep following a road eventually it takes you someplace from which you can get home. All roads really do eventually lead home. We just have to choose to travel them to their ends.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

We were privileged to baptize five new people into the church last Sunday. I am really looking forward to the July 4th Holiday coming up.
