Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation[c] 6 and my God.
My soul is cast down within me;
therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon,
from Mount Mizar. Psalm 42:5

Lately in my Bible time, God has pointed out His words which begin with “When”. I’m not a Bible scholar, but one of my fave verses is, “If my people will humble themselves and pray I will heal their land”…I don’t know if that’s the only “if” promise, probably there are more that are conditional. But He is making certain I see the “when’s”–telling me He’s not a “maybe” God. “When you inherit the land…bring me the first fruits of the harvest” (paraphrased), tells me He still plans to bring me to the land He planned and purposed for my inheritance. And He’s confirming what He already knows about me–that I am faithful to bring Him the first fruits, wherever I go. This “when” is either in Leviticus or Numbers…
Many of the promises of God are if then promises and I love how God confirms that we will fulfill the if by giving us “When commands.” Maybe it is better to say He will fulfill the promises using us.
“When” just really worked for me somehow.
