I think this echoes Paul’s Scripture in Philippians… “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Phil. 2: 9-11.
It does make me wonder though is praise something God needs or is it something we as created beings need to do to fulfill our created purpose?
Amen! Romans 8 is also another source for that ideal
You are correct in that. Love these Scriptures and the revelation they bring. So in our Psalm what do you think God is trying to say?
Anyone who seeks after God’s heart and will for their life is “upright” in God’s eyes and only because of what Jesus did can we be viewed as such. In the amplified translation and new living translation, the verse states it’s “fitting”, “becoming” and “appropriate” for the “upright” to praise Him. In other translations, where it states it’s “beautiful”, we would have to look at what beauty in that sense means. If we do what we were created to do, it’s “beautiful”!
I really like that! I love the idea of God finding us beautiful when we fulfill our created purposes through the lens of His son’s cross, death and resurrection!
All praise for none of us are truly upright
