Mid Afternoon Meditation 4-8-16

From this morning’s meditation you may have learned you are tempted by other gospels circulating in our society. Paul wrote,

I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. 2 Cor. 11:2-4

Such a temptation may indicate a stronghold in your mind. What weapons must you use to tear down the stronghold?

What other gospels do you see being preached today and what in you is tempted to put up with these other gospels?

Friday Fictioneers: My Playground

It is time once again for Friday Fictioneers. That is the place where about 100 authors gather to share about 100 stories containing about 100 words all from 1 picture shared by our hostess Rochelle.

Here is this week’s photo prompt:

My Playground

Everyone in town called it the WPA project. Then they’d sneer. I didn’t know what WPA was or why those letters made people so unhappy. It was just an old cellar hole but to me it was a magical place, a fairy vale, where I could escape from the violence of my father, the impotence of my mother, and the bullying which had become the norm for the smallest kid in school.

I made friends with the trees growing from the basement floor, and carved my initials in the walls.

I cried for weeks after the bulldozers took my world away.

Info on the WPA can be found HERE.

In my home town there was an abandoned cellar hole that was part of an unfinished WPA project. The police were forever chasing kids out of that cellar hole.

Mid Afternoon Meditation 4-8-16

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ 2 Corinthians 10:4,5

Knowing that we are not to use worldly methods to fight how do we use our spiritual weapons to demolish arguments and take thoughts captive?

Color Your World Sky Blue

I am maintaining my pace with the challenge! In case you hadn’t guessed I am pretty proud of this. One of the things I have really struggled with over the last year was consistency in posting. It is getting better!

Today I am coloring the world SKY BLUE. You can click the underlined link to see lots of sky blue but here are my matches for the shade.

In the context of this chapter whose arguments are we demolishing and whose thoughts are we capturing?
