Morning Direction From Scripture 4-15-16

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? 1 Cor. 3: 1-4

What mindset do you think Paul is encouraging the church towards in this passage?

How close are you to that mindset on a scale of 1-10, 1 being not at all close and 10 being perfect in that mindset?

What changes have to take place to help you move up to the next number on the scale?

Morning Direction From Scripture 4-14-16

I know I posted this last night but I am still thinking about it. What have you come up with?

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
    the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

1 Cor. 1:17-19

THERE IS SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT IN THIS PASSAGE. WHAT STRIKES YOU ABOUT IT?

Mid Afternoon Meditation 4-13-16

 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas[b]”; still another, “I follow Christ.” 1 Cor. 1:10-12

What are some things that are necessary to true unity?

How do you go about attaining those things?
