Share Your World 2015 Week #19

share-your-world2

Here we are again at SYW! Each week our hostess, Cee asks five questions. As we answer them our worlds collide (gently of course). Read my answers below and then click the Share your world icon above and it will take you to a whole new level of sharing over at Cee’s blog!

Here are the questions!

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

My home is a multi-level Edwardian style. I would love it to be a one level ranch.

If you have a TV, would you prefer the TV in the living room or another room?

The Living Room. I used to have one in the bed room and I find I am not a big fan of that.

When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time? Explain your answer.

I try to turn the lights out except at night when I am making several trips from the living room to the kitchen ( because I am making snacks while I watch television of course). Then I leave the lights on in the kitchen.

What’s your favorite room in your home?

I think my favorite room is my bedroom. I do a lot of thinking, studying and napping there. It is my refuge from the world

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am very grateful to have been able to go to my son’s Masters graduation in PA last week. Here are some photos

Next week I am looking forward to our annual church network conference in Connecticut,

Weeping Over Geometry

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Land of Confusion.”

The Daily Post has asked us,

Which subject in school did you find impossible to master? Did math give you hives? Did English make you scream? Do tell!

I was a pretty good student throughout school. I was one of those kids who did his homework between periods. I studied while walking to school and still got A’s in everything. Then I met geometry and before long I realized that if I didn’t do something radical I could very possibly ruin all my chances at joining the Honor Society (yep I was that kid). So I studied (that didn’t help) and after squeaking through my first semester with a low C (which really alarmed my parents) I got a tutor. I made it through but determined that I would move away from higher math as quickly as I could.

Years later I was hired at a high school as a Special Needs paraprofessional. My mornings were given to a young man with many challenges. I just loved this part of my job and felt called to it by God. However the young man only stayed on half a day as he had a vocational placement in the afternoons. So the school opted to put me in a classroom as an instructional aid. Guess where I landed? You got it! Helping out in geometry class! I was terrified but then the teacher began handing out the lessons and strangely I got it! I guess that part of my brain finally turned on. So tenth graders don’t give up if you don’t get it just yet. You might just be waiting for a part of your brain to come on-line.

Allow the Spirit of Wisdom Access to Your Heart

Give Him all the room He needs, and He will give you all the answers you need.

And remember this: When people accuse you before everyone and forcefully drag you before the religious leaders and authorities, do not be troubled. Don’t worry about defending yourself or be concerned about how to answer their accusations. Simply be confident and allow the Spirit of Wisdom access to your heart, and he will reveal in that very moment what you are to say to them. – Luke 12a;11-12 TPT

I am really loving the Passion Translation of Luke.

Check out this gem. I quoted two verses above so you would get the context, but I love this thought –

… allow the Spirit of Wisdom access to your heart…

Not sure what to say?

Find yourself at a loss for words?

Always looking for the right answer for your accusers?

Stop.

Take a deep breath.

Open the door of your heart and let the Spirit of…

Forces Of Nature

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Forces of Nature.”

The Daily post has asked us to show the forces of nature from our little corner of the globe. Having just come through one of the worst winters ever in my life time here is my force of nature

I am so glad Spring is finally here!

Lost in a Dream Come True

What’s the main thing?

Ken Knowlton's avatarartistdayapart

The old Yiddish proverb translates as “Man plans, God laughs.”  Equally old is the statement by the Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius, “Live not one’s life as though one had a thousand years, but live each day as the last.”  So, should we live life completely in the moment with no thought for the future?  After all, God does say, So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.  (Matthew 6:34)

I have a friend who is a great guy who loves his family.  But he’s constantly working at his job.  He has a flexible starting time, but he almost always works late into the evening.  He rarely sees any of his family, except on weekends.  And on many of those, he wants to be able to relax or concentrate on his special hobby.  He is so concerned with the day-to-day need…

Share Your World 2015 Week 18

share-your-world2

I haven’t had much time for blogging lately and my brain is a little numb from the work load. I am thankful for challenges like Cee’s that help me focus in and keep a foot in the blogging community during these busy seasons.

Hey! why don’t you support Cee and her other contributors by taking a jaunt over to her page after you are done here and reading some other share your world blogs. All you have to do is click the “Share Your World” icon above and it will magically take you to this week’s STW post.

Here are the questions and my answers:

What type of pets do you have or want?  Or do you not want pets?

I have two little Maltese dogs. Mercedes, the female, is about six and a half pounds. Jacopo, the male, is about nine pounds. Their son, Snug is also currently living with us as my sister itinerates for her mission throughout New York and New England. He is eleven pounds.

What was or is your favorite cartoon?

I love the Spider Friends and Xmen

When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

Usually socks.

Are you a traveler or a homebody?

I love to travel but I am really a homebody because of my schedule. Work keeps me from going far afield unless I have a clearly spelled out purpose to hit the road.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that one of my hands is feeling almost normal again. My right hand is just a little tight now. Thank goodness! Tendonitis is a pain in the thumb!

This next week I am looking forward to travelling down to PA for my son’s graduation from his master’s program in TESoL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I imagine I am coming back with a van load of stuff he will store when he goes over seas to work (that’s his dream anyway).

Cee’s Fun Foto CHALLENGE: PINK!!!!

cees-fun-foto

I have to admit that at first I was a bit intimidated by the notion of “pink” pictures. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t find much in my archive. But then I started looking and I found a plethora of pink. You can see other pinks by clicking the smiley face above. My gallery of fifty shades of pink (or seven) is below.

Friday Fictioneers: Boys Must Play

Time once again for Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle at Addicted To the Color Purple.

Each week our hostess challenges us to write a story in a hundred words based off of a photo prompt of her choosing. That prompt is below and you can go to Rochelle’s page and find her other contributors’ stories on the  blue frog link.

Boys Must Play

by JE Lillie

The two boys danced around the spigot cups in hand. They had worked hard all morning and figured they had earned a break.

Heedless of the gathering crowd, they filled and tossed water at one another until their shirts were drenched.

Sister Amelia stormed through the press and tore the cups from the boys’ hands. The youngsters’ laughter drained into the scowls of the Mexican crowd.

“We came to minister to these people.” Sister Amelia hissed into the oldest boy’s ear.

“Instead you waste their water.”

The desert wind howled the lesson.
