In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Do or Die.”
The Daily Post has told us…
You have three hundred words to justify the existence of your favorite person, place, or thing. Failure to convince will result in it vanishing without a trace. Go!
My first love is Christ. It is for Him I live because He has died for me. So great was His love for me that He gave His life for me while I was still His enemy. I suppose there are some who would say that what needs justifying is not God’s love but His very existence. I think if the reality of God is established then The expression of His love goes without question.
Here’s the thing, I cannot prove the existence of God. I do not need to. He is quite capable of defending His own honor and proving His own reality without me. In fact were I to turn and disparage His existence He would only become more real.
Voltaire declared that within 100 years of his life the gospel and God would fade into the shadowy world of fairytale. His house became a center for Bible distribution. Jesus’ reality and reputation has withstood the onslaught of detractors and dishonorable supporters without becoming tarnished or faded in the least. He is the Alpha and he shall be the Omega. HE has already died and resurrected so nothing anybody says or does will change or remove His place from the history of mankind. It is after all HIS STORY!

Here are the questions:
Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?
I love the park. I am not a huge shopper.
If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why?
I would be a snow boot because right now I need the insulation. Although sometime around June I would want to convert to being a sandal.
What’s the story behind a time when you got locked out?
Oh! This is a good one. When the kids were little I took my daughter and son to camp. I worked as a counsellor and they were campers. During the week I was gone, the front door broke. My wife being very handy replaced the door but did not put the old knobs back on. When the kids and I got home at the end of a very long week of camp my house keys no longer worked and we could not get back into the house.
Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?
Depends what it is. An ice cream sundae is much better with nuts. Mashed potatoes? Not so much.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am really grateful that we had time to clean up from the last snowstorm before this one came in. Some folks in Boston were not so lucky. I am looking forward to getting cleaned up from winter storm Linus and perhaps then finishing the rewrites on my book.
Out of the Frying Pan…
Stay in the frying pan. It is the only way to have your faith come forth like gold.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you (John 14:26).
In Italian, it is “dalla padella alla brace. The first recorded use of it was in a Greek poem as early as 15BC. The first to adapt it into English was Roger L’Estrange in 1692. The Romanians claim it as one of their ancient proverbs. We’ve all heard it and probably used it at some point in our lives. “Out of the frying pan and into the fire” means leaving a bad situation only to find yourself in one that is worse.
I’m reminded of a story one of my former pastors told (repeatedly!). A man driving his car too fast, couldn’t make a sharp corner and drove the car off a cliff into a deep canyon. He fell out of…
