Here is our prompt for this week’s Friday Fictioneers. This exercise in flash fiction is a great way to get the creative juices flowing! So let me encourage you to jump on over to Rochelle’s page at http://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/2013/08/, read the rules and join in the fun.
Here is my take on this week’s prompt.
Wannabe
My name’s Jake. The chick on the right is my sister Norma Jeane. Yep that’s right Norma Jeane Mortenson. The Mortenson clan were big fans of the blond bombshell. One of the families had to fall on their swords and create a namesake. We drew the short straw.
Actually it wasn’t all that bad until Aunt Orli bought Norma that stupid white dress. Now she insists on wearing it out every time we go to the grocery store.
She calls this “doing the Marilyn.”
I call it “the ditz’s walk of shame.”
I can’t wait until I get my license.

Aaaahhhh sisters.
I love my real life sister. She never did this to me! 🙂
I love “doing the Marilyn”.
Wait till Jake meets a sistah who’s not related, who’ll do the Marilyn for him, and he’ll fast be singing another tune. Randy
Thanks for stopping by Randy! I’m glad you liked the phrase and I suppose it’s true. It is sometimes scary how easy it is for a pretty lady to turn the heads of even the most even tempered among us men.
The license to drive–a little card held so much promise for our future, or so we thought.
Yes it did!
Yes…. relatives are always the worst.
Only sometimes. As embarrassing as they can sometimes be over the years we do come to value them for who they are hopefully.
Dear Joseph,
Now there’s a family that takes Marilyn Memorabilia to a new level! Fun stuff.
shalom,
Rochelle
Yes indeed. I think I am glad my own family isn’t this extreme. But it is interesting what your photos are bringing out in me lately.
