“Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and [on] his left. And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And [the LORD] said, Thou shalt entice [him], and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do [even] so. ” 2 Chron. 18: 18-21 KJV
One of the weaknesses the enemies of God suffer is a simple denial of the truth. They believe lies. Somewhere along the line the truth becomes hidden from them and they embrace things about God which are absolutely ridiculous. Things like:
“God doesn’t judge people. God loves people.”
I suppose it’s not entirely untrue. God does love people but God does judge people for their sin. He did it with Ahab and his kingdom. Ahab and his wife Jezebel doubted God had the power to carry out his threats. Are our kings today so very different? I wonder if our culture’s tendency to believe half truths about God doesn’t mean that the spirit who enticed Ahab might just be up to his old tricks once again.
Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.
9 This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. 10 He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.11 So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. 12 Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth. 2 Thes. 2:8-12
